I also have the Sorel Joan of Arctic boots. I felt that they were comfortable and VERY warm both with and without snow. However, as others have said, they are heavy! I feel like a moose when I wear them. However, I do loooove the style and color choices and I'm sure they will last at least 3-4 winters.

I got them off of this site, and last year they were the cheapest I found. http://www.winterstiefel-shop.com/winterboots/damen-winterstiefel.php It's popping up in German for me, but maybe it will default back to English for you? Anyways, they have good prices, so it's worth a peek.

I had a pair of Uggs, not sure what model, but they're not classic and had a sturdier sole. They lasted for 6 years and were ridiculously comfy. My current pair are Bailey Buttons (2 yrs old) and although they're comfy, the sheep skin isn't as thick as the old ones I've had. I still use them, but I need a pair that's good for thick snow, with proper traction.

I'm still putting it off and I think I'm just going for whichever deal is better.

@locavore_mama: Mine are the Brooks model, in brown. They're perfectly fine for what I use them for, but I envsion a little more outdoor snow activity next winter (not this one coming up) when my son's going to be out sledding and what not.

I think I am going to wait as well, maybe they'll do a closeout on a not popular color combo on the Sorels...but I should probably try them on in a store to see if the weight bothers me!

@looch: I would wait. That's a popular line so I'm sure they're on sale often.

I got a pair of Uggs (not classic) a few years back for Xmas. They are great in the snow! They are lined with sheepskin (??) so they're very warm, and it's waterproof so my feet stay dry and toasty. The traction is great too. Not sure if they're the Adirondack?

Bumping this up because I saw that Sierra Trading Post has the Sorel Joan of Arctics for around $100.

I am seriously contemplating, but I am kind of holding off until the pair I currently have (Uggs) dies. They're 5 years old and still kicking, so I feel like I should just wait until the end of season sales...right?

I have the UGG Adirondack (tall, not the short ones) and have had them for 3 or 4 years, I can't remember. They still look brand new!

How comfortable are they in snow? - VERY! We get a lot of snow and ice where I live, for months at a time. I have never slipped with these boots on. I've been out scraping ice off my car in -20 degrees and my feet and legs were toasty and warm.

How comfortable are they without snow? - Also, very! They are not super light, but also not what I would call heavy. It's not a pain to wear them when it isn't snowing. I wear from to/from work every day from mid-Nov to April because you never know when we'll get snow.

Are they durable? Do you think they'll last a few years? Like I said, I've had them for several years and they still look brand new. I've had zero issues with them so far, and anticipate wearing them for many years to come.

Do you love them? YEP!!!! I highly recommend them!

@betsyboop: @LovelyPlum: Thank you! I've read a few reviews of ppl complaining about the same thing. It gets pretty cold around here, but snow usually comes late. We had record breaking winters these past 3 years, so I'm betting it'll go back to normal and not snow at all now that I'm buying proper winter boots!

I might just suck it up and get the Adirondacks.

I have Sorel's, and I agree with @betsyboop: they are quite heavy! That being said, in snow, they're fabulous. I'm very glad that I got them!

I bought the Sorel Joan of Arctic boots last year. And of course it barely snowed so I didn't wear them too much but to answer your questions, my biggest complaint is that they're SO HEAVY. I don't know how the UGGs are, but I feel like I'm wearing 10 pound weights on my feet in the Sorels. They definitely look durable though but in short, I get quite a workout walking around in them...even when there is no snow!

This isn't really about beauty or style, but about function. I resigned to accept that my feet are no longer the same size since DD. They grew a whole size. Well it's cold now and I've been putting off buying new boots. I haven't bought a pair of boots since ... I can't even remember.

If you have a pair of Sorels or UGG Adirondack, I'd love to hear from you!

Which brand do you have?

How comfortable are they in snow?

How comfortable are they without snow?

Are they durable? Do you think they'll last a few years?
