@MrsBrewer: don't mind at all! From Aug-Present I have lost 25lbs. Total weight loss since July has been 65lbs. (I definitely took advantage of being pregnant and ate everything in sight so I had alot to lose ;)

I highly recommend 30 day shred if you haven't tried it yet. I did the shred + diet and lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks last year before I got pregnant. I plan on starting that up again once I stop breastfeeding to tone.

You'll definitely be able to do it though! :)

Wow that's crazy, I'm in a similar position. I'm went in to get measured for a bridesmaid dress in August, 1 month pp and they told me I was a sz 20. Well wedding is in dec and I refuse to pay the extra for plus size (because im cheap! haha) so I told them to order me the highest size that was not plus which ended up being size 16. Well I lost the weight and lo and behold they ordered a sz 18 and now I have to spend $50 for them to alter it to make it smaller :(

As far as losing the weight, eating right has done wonders for my weight loss and also drinking tons of water.

Eating. It's much easier to control what you eat and whittle down calories that way vs. crazy exercise. Which also can make you MORE hungry!

P.S. A good seamstress can also always let out/take in an inch from the dresses. Usually bridesmaids dresses have a good 1/2" seam allowance on each side!

Not to beat a dead horse, but eating. I've always been a high-intensity, frequent exerciser, but if I was looking to lose weight, the only thing that ever made any difference at all is my diet.

Especially if you are short on time, it is a lot easier to focus on healthy eating and cutting down your portions (although it does take some extra time, you don't have to focus on donating hours and hours each week to eating healthy like you otherwise would if you were focusing on exercise.)

Eating for sure. Cut out sugar and carbs and go easy on dairy and you'll be surprised how quickly it will come off. It's tough to stick with, but amazing what your body holds on to.

i agree with all the PPs; diet first. plus since it doesn't require "extra time", it might be easier for you to swing right now rather than adding in 30-60 min of exercise. good luck!

Eating!

When I started trying to lose the baby weight I focused mainly on net calories. I used My Fitness Pal to figure out my target net calories to lose 1.5 lbs per week and stuck to it. When you count net calories, you can factor in exercise and it will add those calories burned to what you can consume that day so that you don't eat too little.

I lost 30 pounds in just over 3 months, and slowly lost an additional 20 pounds since September. Counting calories really does work, but you have to track every single little thing you consume and be diligent (at least for the most efficient results.) My Fitness Pal was great because it uses height, weight, lifestyle, exercise amount to create a target net calorie range for you based on how much you want to lose each week (.5, 1, 1.5 or 2 lbs).

90% of weight loss is diet. 10% exercise. If you portion control and eat healthy you'll probably have to have the dress altered! :)

I really think eating is the faster way to lose weight, though I also think exercise is the healthier way! So I'd start with eating. Also, a good pair of spanx could help you out with that inch, especially if it is just the hips :)

I agree! Eating is often the easier way to go. I've lost 15 lbs just by diet alone before!

Also, you can always get the dress taken out a bit if you end up needing to. There's usually an inch that can be found in the seems if that's all you need.

I'd say eating. I did weight watchers my senior year of college and did not exercise during and lost about 10-15 lbs simply by scaling back portion sizes!
