No help here either...I have a 19 month old who has never liked when we brush his teeth! He's also been on veggie strike since about 14 months. He just now starting to get back into cooked carrots. Last night, we managed to get 5 soy beans in him! I was so excited.

@NurseMommy: So did the suggestions work? How is your adorable one year old doing in the veggie eating and tooth brushing department?

Pasta sauces made of veggies- pea or broccoli pesto on pasta. She loves them. I put a tiny bit of Italian dressing on her broccoli last night and that went over well too. Smoothies with spinach in them. Spinach chopped up and mixed with beans in her quesadilla.

Re: toothbrushing, we have always sung the same song, which helps. Also, if I pretend to brush my teeth first (with her toothbrush) she will let me in for a few swipes on hers. We go back and forth.

I am kind of scared of the upcoming toddler stage. For a couple of weeks now, she is always doing something daily that drives me crazy!!!

Diaper changing is the worst it's ever been!
She is spitting out her food, water, and milk!

LOL! We must have 2 peas in pod! Except for the veggie, my girl won't eat any meats.

1) Tootbrushing - like you, I had used the washcloth method since early newborn. Around 10 months or so, she started refusing the banana brush and would bite my fingers if I tried the washcloth. I still try to make the banana brush fun every night. But now I let her have a soft, adult brush and we just brush with water in the morning gently. Or on occasion, she loves watching me brush with my sonic toothbrush, so I let her "feel" it gently. She loves it. Not sure if electronic toothbrushes are okay yet, but I've been thinking about getting her a kids one, just to use gently sometimes.
2) Meats (or in your case, veggies) - We can only get her to eat them in purees. Really, really finely blended purees. With veggies, it should be even easier to get them in the pouches! There's tons of veggies mixed into the pouches.

One thing that works really well for us is to give some healthy food "snacks" while I am preparing a meal, or while Lorelei is waiting for everyone else to sit down to the table. She will eat all sorts of things that way! We also freeze smoothies and green smoothies into popsicles as a treat, and those are available any time. Both girls are really excited to eat them, and they get some good veggie and fruit nutrition.

No help on the teeth brushing here. Our 19 month old has recently decided he hates it and screams the entire time.

As for the veggies, I second the pouches and smoothies! Works great for my LO!

Best of luck!

1. My daughter is alllllll about brushing her teeth as long as mommy or daddy is ALSO brushing teeth. So I'll give her her toothbrush and she'll "brush" while I brush my teeth. Then we switch and I brush her teeth while I hold my brush in my mouth and let her hold the end of it and "brush" my teeth.

2. We still give LO veggie pouches and she sucks them down. Then I don't worry as much when when she doesn't eat many off her plate.

I give our daughter a choice: she can brush or I can brush. Usually she starts brushing and then I take over, to check her work!

As for veggies, maybe blend it into her meals? Our kids get regular doses of kale, since we mix it into their green smoothies of apples and. bananas!

No help, just commiseration! Our late teether has gotten 5 teeth in the last month, and our late crawler had decided that walking is a good idea. Oh, and did I mention, he has a fake cry now? It's hilarious, but I miss my itty bitty baby!

She's turning into a toddler. Girlfriend can't walk or talk and barely crawls, but my 11 month old has the opinions of a toddler already. THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN TO ME!!!

So my specific problems:
1) HOW do you brush an 11 month old's teeth? I started rubbing her gums daily with a washcloth as a newborn and now? Oh no, she will push that tongue forward and grow six extra hands to keep that toothbrush from touching her (two) teeth!
2) She has gone on a vegetable strike. Will. Not. Eat. Vegetables. Even cutting them up really small and mixing them in with other things doesn't work. She gums everything, swallows the carby stuff, and spits out the veg!

Help?!
