I tried weaning DS before daycare and it almost worked, but then it didn't. He is at daycare for 10 hours a day and is fine all day without nursing and will drink milk in a sippy fine. On the weekends I just let him nurse when he wants and we haven't had a problem.

I guess I'm trying to say is she won't let herself go thirsty. For the first few days she probably won't drink as much but after a couple of weeks she will figure it out.

@NurseMommy: oh no! Sorry to hear this. My DD almost 11 months is starting to take less and less formula which scares me because she is already so slim. So I wait for her to fall asleep then dream feed her a bottle, that is the only way she will take a bottle. A bottle is her only option since I stopped BF many, many months ago. Hope you get the issue resolved soon.

@NurseMommy: oh no! Maybe its just a phase and it helps to just let some time pass and then try again in a couple of days?

@NurseMommy: Are you around when they're offering? Or are you out of the house? If you're around, that could be why she's refusing.

Also, I just bottle weaned Xander and there were definitely a couple weeks where he just really didn't drink much! But after a while, he figured out that sippies were his only source of milk, so he started drinking from them! Hopefully the same will be true for your LO that she'll start drinking from them more/at all once she realizes that's her only source for milk!

I would just keep trying the straw cup. My LO didn't really get the hang of BM in a straw cup until she was almost 10 months old...now she refuses bottles at 11 months!

@Adira: @Pumuckl: She's refusing it from DH, MIL, and my mom! Oy.

It's tough because I work 12 hour days/nights, so when I return to work there will be up to FOUR days in a row when I don't see her. At all. :crying: I don't think my supply will withstand that. I will pump, though. But she can't go four days without bm!!

I second @Adira's suggestions. My LO always took better to the bottle if it was offered by my husband.

I tried cows milk and 11 months. I had to really gradually introduce it because he occasionally threw it up. In the end it worked out because I was pregnant and dried up, and he wouldn't touch formula.

Has you husband tried giving her BM from a bottle or sippy when you're not around? I suspect, given no other options, she'll just have to come around. She's not going to just go hungry forever just because you're not there! She'll eventually take a bottle or sippy again when you're at work!

Or, like @kiddosc: mentioned - she may just nurse more when you two are together!

I would try different cups, a sippy cup or even just a regular open cup. I've also heard of people having luck with feeding BM from a spoon. I think ultimately she'll just figure it out. If you're not around, she'll take the bottle or sippy or cup or whatever, or she'll drop the feeding and wait until the source is available.

Not entirely sure where to put this, but here goes:

My 10.5 month old DD has JUST started refusing a bottle. Absolutely zero interest whatsoever. She took one happily from 6 weeks old until last week. Also, despite drinking well from a straw cup, she will NOT take breast milk from it. Apparently according to her, breast milk must now only come directly from the source!

The problem? She's still waking to nurse at least once a night. I've been dealing with night wakings her whole life alone, but I go back to work in 6 weeks, and I work about 40% night shifts. What is my DH supposed to do when she wakes up to nurse? And what is he supposed to do when he needs to give her breast milk first thing in the morning and before bed?

I'm hesitant to start cow's milk because we believe she has an intolerance, and I was really hoping to breastfeed as long as possible. What do we do???
