Unfortunately I think we found out... I thought I saw boy parts and then the tech made a comment about "brothers". I'm kind of dissappointed (not about the gender, I'm ecstatic to have another boy) but just that I feel like I lost my surprise :-/

We had quite a few ultrasounds starting at 35+ weeks because we found out DS was an IUGR baby and my amniotic fluids were low. Despite more ultrasounds near the end, I couldn't always tell what we were looking at except for the heart, stomach and kidney because those pulsate.

At 17wks it was pretty obvious that there was nothing down there! I guess if you told the tech you didn't want to know, they could tell you when to look away.

I had many ultrasounds during my pregnancy and made sure to tell the tech that we didn't want to know the sex. Even at some of the later ones when I could tell what we were looking at on the face, I still had no idea what we were looking at lower down!

I'm awful at identifying body parts on ultrasounds, so I highly doubt I could make out anything :) But if you're better at it than I am, maybe you could ask the ultrasound tech to warn you when s/he gets close?

I always said when I went in the room that I didn't want to know. She always told us when she was doing the leg measurements to look away.
Edit: I had one at 20w, 29w, 33w, 37w.

We didn't find out and had a 3D ultrasound at 32 weeks. They just knew we didn't want to know and told us to look away at certain points. Then I was diagnosed with PIH and had ultrasounds weekly and still didn't find out. You'll be good, as long as you tell them :)

I had one at 28 weeks and I DID want to find out and not even the tech could tell, haha. But we were having a girl and supposedly that makes a difference.

We had a 20 week ultrasound and told the tech a million times we didn't want to know. Then we needed to go again at 25 weeks to get the spine checked, and we again, told her a million times we didn't want to know, even looked away and turned the screen. However, she apparently could easily tell because she blabbed we were having a girl. I would just tell your tech you really don't want to know, and look away. If they are up towards the face you shouldn't have issues. With this current pregnancy though I knew it was a girl as well before the tech told me.

@Tidybee: @lemondrop: This makes me feel much better! I'm definitely not up on reading ultrasounds so hopefully I won't have a clue what I'm looking at :-)

Just tell the tech in the very beginning that you're team green and don't want to know the sex. They'll avoid that area and tell you when to look away.

One nice thing about it being later is that the baby is bigger- it takes up more of the screen than when it is smaller and you can get the whole baby in the view.

A good friend of mine can read ultrasounds and is team Green for her baby- she just talked with the US tech ahead of time, let them know they didn't want to find out and asked to be told when to look away when they were scanning "down there." She's 32 weeks now and hasn't found out yet, so it's worked fine for her!

Can you tell the ultrasound tech to warn you when you may see between the legs so that youcan look away. I had a scan at 34 weeks and I still had no idea what I was looking at most of the time. :)

I originally only wanted one ultrasound this pregnancy at 20 weeks (well I still prefer that) but then thanks to insurance and then the monster snowstorm we just had I will now be 25 weeks at my ultrasound. DH and I don't want to find out the gender. Did anyone have an U/S at this point? Was the gender unmistakable? I'm worried because the baby is so much bigger now that we might not be able to avoid finding out. I'm ok with looking away when they are doing leg measurements and whatnot but I do want to be able to watch for the most part since this will be my only chance to see the baby before birth assuming no complications.
