@Mrs. Bee: right? I feel like for disney trips, we could be using that thing at least until age 6.

Believe it or not, I am actually considering a cheapie $10 BRU umbrella stroller.

I've yet to actually need an umbrella stroller 2 years in, though it would have been nice to have on a few occasions. I would go with something cheap.

ETA: Cheap like an Ignite or Jet, not like a $10 BRU stroller

We bought a used Maclaren Triumph and it's pretty perfect. I looked at the UBs but I just couldn't justify the additional costs, even used.

Oh wait...the $25 posting is from a month ago. It's probably gone. Oh well! I'll put a Craigslist alert on and see what turns up.

We have a Gluxe that we love but I haven't tested any other umbrella strollers so I can't compare.

I love our G-luxe, but I wouldn't break the bank to get one. I love that it reclines and the sunshade is awesome, but those are just conveniences, not necessities. I would rather have a brand new Ignite than a 2010 G-luxe.

@Mrs. Bee: Good to know. I'm 5'7 and my hubs is 6'2, so tall is good. And there's a cute print Ignite of Cl right now for $25. Hard to beat that price.

We have a Maclaren Quest because recline was important to me. But I would have been totally fine with a First Years stroller too (we have one at my parents' place). It is a little tall though and the Maclaren is better for shorter people. But honestly the first years stroller is great! No need to spend more!

I know there are a million Umbrella stroller threads, but I've been reading through them and haven't found the answer to all my questions!

I'm looking at used umbrella strollers on Clist and my local mommy listserv. The biggest contenders seem to be the Maclaren Quest and the G-Luxe at the higher price point, and the Ignite at the lower price point. I like the new Joovy Groove ultralight, but that's too new for people to be selling used just yet--same for the Mountain Buggy nano.

I'm not sure how much I'll even use it--seems like now that LO is older (and will soon be in a convertible car seat), an umbrella stroller will be easier for car trips/short errands in the car. And an umbrella might be good for flights.

Right now, I still use my big B-Ready every day walking around town.

But...are the expensive models really worth the extra expense? Even used, they are stupidly expensive in my opinion. Where I live now, they are definitely a bit of a status symbol as well. We all live in small apartments and most don't drive, but everyone has 2-3 expensive strollers for their one child. Most people I know have an Uppababy Vista/Bugaboo and a Quest/G-luxe.

Or are there features that really make a Quest or G-luxe way better than say, an Ignite? I've read about the sun shade issues, but I can buy a Rayshade and take care of that.

Also, since I'm looking at used--are there big differences in model years I should know about? Like if someone is posting a 2010 G-Luxe or Quest, is there some major upgrade I would prefer in a newer model?

Weigh in, Bees!
