@peachykeen: Thank you and thanks everyone. I decided to go with the Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight. It is$70 to Amazon and had really great reviews. I'll let you all know how it holds up

@Mrsbells: I recommend the Baby Jogger City Tour if you're just using for the little one. The weight limit is 45 lb and my 5yo is 44 lb and it was difficult to push with her in it, but perfect for my 28 lb 2yo! We used in Europe on cobblestone and it was great. It comes with a backpack and is carry-on size. We had no issues with it at CDG airport in Paris and also took to Disneyland Paris. It was super easy getting on and off trains as well! They have pretty good deals on them right now. We got ours from Albee Baby in October for $120 including tax and free ship. I'm sure it will resell better than our umbrella strollers as well.

@Mrsbells: The airport we ran into this in was CDG - I'm not sure how common it is elsewhere. But if we had had a stroller like the Mountain Buggy Nano that folds up into regulation carryon size we would have been allowed to bring it through.

I'm not a fan of traditional umbrellas (that fold into a long slender thing). You can't push them with one hand. I prefer strollers like the mountain buggy annoy, baby jogger tour, yoyo, etc. They fold impossibly small and are excellent for travel or keeping in the trunk of your car.

If your budget is 75, Id try to get one used. I don't know how happy you'll be spending $75 on a new stroller; only to find that the fold stinks, it doesn't hold up to airline abuse, cobblestones, etc. But again, the one handed push is SO crucial especially when traveling. We personally have a baby jogger tour and a MB nano and I love both.

@Mrsbells: I would check local moms group or craigslist for a used Nano - I got one a few years ago on craigslist for $100 and they were pretty new then so not as many used ones were floating around. We've traveled a ton with it and it is amazing.

Thanks everyone!
@graceandjoy: @JennyPenny: good question so we are transiting through Europe and that but our final destination is to Africa. I really want to stroller for the airport piece of the journey since it is a two stop trip.

@Kemma: thanks for that suggestion, it looks like a really cool travel stroller, I think it might be a little over my budget, I wanted to stay under $75

@ttcgirl: @PurplePumps: @Ajsmommy: thank you that's helpful

What about a Mountain Buggy Nano, or something similar? They fold up small enough to carry on but push like a dream and have a full recline for napping. I bought one when my third was about six months old so I didn’t have to lug my big pram in and out of the car and I love it!

I think it's worth it! We initially got our umbrella stroller to use for a trip, then once I had a taste for how convenient it is I've used it a lot more day to day. I use the bulkier travel system stroller for longer walks around town and the umbrella for mall trips or events where I know my little one will be in and out and we might want to stash it somewhere. I was able to get a great price on a used Maclaren stroller on our local Facebook page.

I think it depends on where you're going and what you'll be doing while there. All of our international travel has been in Europe and I can't imagine my travel system stroller in some of those narrow spaces, or trying to carry it down flights of stairs to get to the many many metros that don't have elevators. Also, on recent travels we were unable to bring our stroller through to gate check it and had to check it with the rest of our luggage. That was the only time I'd ever run into that though...

I hate lugging my bulky stroller even just in and out of the car, so I use a travel stroller as my every day stroller. I think it's worth it to have just for that. And for travel it's great cause it fits in the overhead so you can use it during long layovers too in case the airline just gate checks it top the final destination.

Hmm I would say (1) How much do you use your stroller now that you'd feel bad if it got banged up? (2) Where are you going? Would it be helpful to get a lighter umbrella to walk around, go up/downstairs, etc (3) Do you foresee more traveling later that it would make sense to get a decent umbrella stroller?

I def would not waste money on those cheapie ones; I don't think the wheels of those are good enough to withstand bigger trips, plus no recline options, etc.

Hi all! I have been missing off these boards for a while since I can't really post at work execute y on my phone which can be so glitchy. Anyway I have never used an umbrella stroller with any of my kids but our youngest is 14 months and we will be traveling internationally. His regular stroller is a Graco travel system stroller. I usually gate check it but it is pretty bulky. Is an umbrella stroller worth it? Or should I just take my regular stroller
