Oh and you cant see a thong under the mat spanx....They look totally smooth and I wear those ones with the wide lace band at the top from VS and you cant see the lace either:)

Maternity spanx! I lurve them!!!! I was skepticsl bc I never liked normal spanx, but maternity spanx are great! They suck me in and make me feel "controlled.". When my thighs are oh-so-out-of-control:)

I purchased two pairs of spanx maternity shapewear and wore it under dresses this summer. I felt like every little flaw was visible and felt so much better with these on. Your belly has no shapewear material, just thighs/butt. I got them at Macys.

Yes, maternity "shapewear" is amazing! It doesn't do any of the sucking, it just gently shapes, and leaves no lines anywhere.

I have something very similar to this: http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=965220111&MasterCategory_Id=MC32

@mrsmenow: Are thongs out of the question? I'm still wearing them at 20 weeks, but your body has gone through a lot more changing at 31 so I don't know if they are doable later in pregnancy...

@mrsmenow: Regular spanx help with the underwear line, so I don't see why the mama ones wouldn't. I'd just wear the thinnest, least line making ones you have.

hmmm, I might have to try to find some mama spanx. Do you think that would smooth out any undie lines? I can't go without, I wear a pantyliner all the time for all the glorious parts of pregnancy going on down there (sorry for the TMI).

I think highwire was saying that the maternity spanx were super comfortable too. I've never heard anyone say they were uncomfortable.

I've never tried them on.

I'd probably go with maternity tights and a tank. I have this one http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Cozy-Maternity-Tank-Top/dp/B005SAP6FQ (I won it from a blog.. not sure if it is priced comparably to other brands) and it really smooths everything out.

I would wear cotton thongs for formal events when I was pregnant. They are more comfortable than the lacy or synthetic thongs

I just got a pair of maternity tights at Macy's and they feel so good! They are not shapewear, just normal tights and I definitely still feel smooth and secure. I think the shapewear ones are tight in your butt and thighs but have more 'give' in the belly.

I'd go with tights or leggings, sans underwear. Shapewear might be too tight for comfort.

Ooh, I'm curious about this as well. I have heard that maternity spanx exist--I would think the kind that are like long shorts would do the trick for your situation, but I don't know exactly how that would work in maternity sizes. They're so uncomfortable (though worth it!) when I'm not pregnant; would they make me want to die if they went over my bump?

I am in a wedding next weekend and I will be almost 31 weeks.

The dress shows any little bump/panty line even on people who are not pregnant. Just curious what you ladies would wear underneath. I was thinking maybe maternity tights (it is cold here already- highs in 50's, lows in 30's) Has anyone tried shape wear? What kind of underwear? I have not even attempted a thong in months, lol.
