@runnerd: Was she rear facing in the car? Could she have been really dizzy when she got out. I get dizzy in the car or on the train if I am facing the opposite way from the way we are moving. Even facing forward I will occasionally get dizzy facing forward but trying to read or look at picture or video. It is a form of motion sickness.

I would trust your mom instinct! I remember having this feeling in my dog once and even that freaked me out. So I can imagine you were quite shaken. Hopefully it's nothing serious but if I were in your shoes I would feel the same way!

@Tidybee: I don't usually think the worst, but I did this time! The most common cause I was seeing online was ear infection so I was just sure he was going to have one! The other thought I had was low blood sugar maybe. He was not eating well at all for us yesterday morning before we left, and we were eating lunch much later than usual.

My mind always goes to the worst but I would get a second opinion or consult a neurologist to rule rhings out.

@Truth Bombs: probably, I think we are going to call his primary doctor and get their opinion (we saw the on call doctor yesterday)

Is there a pediatric neurologist near you that you could take him to for a second opinion? That would freak me out and I would want a better response from the doctor than what essentially amounts to "I don't know". I think a second opinion would help ease my mind.

My LO has never done this, unless he spins himself round in a circle for ages and makes himself dizzy. I would have been worried like you were. Hope it doesn't happen again and was just a one off.

Yesterday we had a weird experience, and I wanted to see if anything like this had happened to anyone else's LO.

LO is 16 months old. We got back in town and met friends at restaurant after a 2 hour drive (which LO goes on longer drives 1-2x a month); When we got out, he acted totally normal, except when he would walk, he wasn't holding his head up straight, and he would veer diagonally and fall over. He then would cry because he didn't understand why it was happening. We thought he was just groggy from the car, but it happened the whole 15min we waited for a table, then we took him outside because he was acting funny still, and it was continuing. So we left, and went home, where it still continued. I got him to lay with me and watch cartoons for about 20min and then he was totally fine next time he got up. All together the loss of balance lasted 30-40min.

Of course we took him to doctor and felt overprotective as there was no ear infection, and they were basically like no big deal unless it happens again. I dunno, it was just so weird and we are still a little shaken since the doctor had no explanation except maybe it was the car ride.
