Eeek this thread is creeping me out! I have to go to the bathroom but now I'm too chicken. Lol

I work at a historic park, and our business office is actually an old house that was built in the 40s that used to be where the park manager lived. I was working alone on a Saturday once and I heard stomping coming up the basement stairs. I tried to brush it off...but then I heard a loud bang on the wall of the back office. Creeped out...but I tried not to think about it. Then I heard a rustling and the sound of something falling in the supply room. I called a coworker who was out on the grounds to come sit with me until I could pack up my stuff and go work somewhere else! He was brave enough to investigate the falling sound. It was a bag of old name tags that was on a top shelf (pushed way back and tucked away!!). One name tag had fallen out. A woman who had worked there 10 years ago that had just died the previous week. Some of the employees who knew her had just went to the funeral a few days prior!! I worked from another facility the rest of the day and I don't work alone in the office anymore. Although nothing as crazy as that has happened since.

Also, this isn't scary or anything creepy, but I was rocking T when he was still a few weeks old and I remember thinking about what it was like for my MIL (she passed right before DH and I got together) to rock DH as a baby. I had a moment where I missed her intensely (I know that's weird to say since I never knew her...but I do miss her) and wished she could hold her grandson. T started smiling and giggling in his sleep and a sense of calm washed over me. I just had the feeling that she was with T in his dream. I sat and we rocked him together for a while and I had a good cry.

My dad and our elderly neighbor were always playing silly pranks on one another. April Fools Day was theirs. When our neighbor passed away, we went to the visitation and were reminiscing all of the good laughs we had with him. All of a sudden a lampshade on a lamp in the corner of the room, the closet person 10+ feet away, fell off the lightbulb down the lamp. It made a tremendous noise in the quiet funeral home. We all had to laugh because we figured he was belly laughing up in heaven.

Eeep! Love this thread!

The only thing that personally happened to me was the night my great-grandmother died ten years ago. We lived in a smaller, older house. The front door open since visitors were in and out and it was getting hot. The door was super heavy and there wasn't any wind that night. The moment my older second cousin started talking about how much he missed her, the front door slammed shut and the living room lights flickered on and off, scaring the crap out of us. A few days later one of the mirrors that had been on the walls for 20 years fell down out of nowhere as well but after her funeral, nothing else happened.

My grandfather died three years after a long history of heart disease and gout. My mom says the night before he died, he came into the living room and announced that his father told him to come home. I guess no one really took him seriously (he was a bit of a joker sometimes) and he didn't seem to be ill. He died early the next morning.

ACK! I'm still on the fence about whether or not I believe in this type of thing, but there are SO many stories out there...

I got completely sucked into a show called "The Ghost Inside My Child" that had me pretty convinced...

My great-grandfather died when my grandmother was 13 years old. After he had been dead for several months, my great grandmother started having dreams where he would be standing at the foot of her bed, soaking wet. The dreams continued for days and my great-grandmother didn't know what to think of them. Then, one night, he grabbed her arm and she suddenly shot up, awake, and knew what was wrong. She called the cemetery and insisted that they dig her husband up because he was wet. At first, they thought she was crazy and blew her off. She was insanely persistent though and finally, probably just to shut her up, they exhumed his grave. It turned out that the vault was not properly sealed. His grave was/is at the bottom of the hill, so every time it rained the water would collect in the vault, soaking the casket. He was, as she described, soaking wet. They provided him with a new casket and properly sealed the vault. She never had anymore dreams.

@illumina: That's how I felt literally 6 months ago. I would read all these threads on here and be like "gosh those stories are crazy but.... i dunno". Then twice in 6 months this stuff happens. A medium told my FIL that BIL knew my LO before she was born, and now that she's here, all of a sudden objects that are hers are mysteriously appearing. It's cray-cray.

I love this thread and everything like this! I definitely believe there is something out there and someone watching out for me because too many weird things have happened that I can't explain. I still want to actually *see* something with my own eyes, but I haven't yet...at least nothing that I couldn't pass off as my eyes playing a trick on me.

When we got married we had candles lit for all the people who couldn't be there (DH's Dad, my grandparents and an Aunt) After our wedding we took the candles (the had velum wrapped around them with the name of the deceased person on them) and put them in our China hutch in our dining room. We NEVER go in the dining room- its just not a room we frequently use. I work nights- so every night when I got home the light in the China hutch was on- and every morning when I woke up it was turned off. I thought DH was just being nice and turning the light on for me at night (even though it was in a room I wouldn't go in when I got home from work) One Friday night when DH and I were both home- he asked me why the China hutch light was on- and I was like- well you turned it on for me- just like you do every night. And he was like- No I don't do that. I was all - you must- how else would it turn on. DH was a little weirded out, but thought I was just losing my mind and I had turned it on. The next Friday the same thing happens and DH blames me again. This goes on for a month. DH is starting to get annoyed with me- because the darn light is on- but I keep telling him I didn't do it! Finally he is like- I am just going to unplug the whole thing- he looks behind the hutch- AND ITS BEEN UNPLUGGED THE WHOLE TIME! There was no power to it- so how was the light going on an off!!!!!! DH was freaking out- I am convinced it was the spirits of the people who we lit candles for! IT stopped after that night- but it was WEIRD!

This thread is amazing! I don't believe in ghosts, but I'd like to be proven wrong :silly:

I lived in this apartment in a 100+ year old house for a year, and every single picture I have from the entire year that was taken facing one side of the living room has those "ghost"/dust dots on it. No other pictures from the apartment have them. That sort of weirded me out.

@Mamasig: my neighbor committed suicide and I didn't really know him but I said hello every morning on my way out the door to work. After he passed away I used to get the weirdest feeling walking past the door where he always was, hard to describe but I didn't want to look at the window or the door. One night I was out with my friend, her boyfriend and his mother, who is a medium and she was asking me who Tom was. I told her I didn't know a Tom. It wasn't until they were dropping me off and I asked that they not drop me in front of "the door". His name was Tom. His mom asked Tom to please stop watching me and that even though he was trying to be nice he was scaring me. I've never felt that weird cold scared feeling near that door since then!

@Ajsmommy: totally a ghost swoosh!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: my great aunt had a similar dream when my great grandfather passed away - they were running in a field and a cloud came over the field and covered my great grandfather. when my great aunt woke up, he had passed in his sleep downstairs.

@Chillybear: my grandmother passed away when I was 17, we were very close. I saw her every day, she brought me to school, lessons, etc. every time I've had something important in my life, I've heard 'somewhere over the rainbow'. (I was obsessed with Wizard of Oz as a kid, in my family it was 'my thing', I get themed gifts to this day, etc.) I was crying in my car driving alone the hour to my bridal shower and it came on the radio. When I gave birth the hospital TV was playing the movie on a 24hr loop. I'd like to think of it as her way of saying she's there with me through all those important moments where I miss her so much. Even though it really freaks me out and makes me cry when it happens! lol

I believe things like this can happen!!!

When I was little my mom thought I had an imaginary friend because I would tell her about this little girl who I would see. I can still remember what she looked like - about 6 or 7, white dress, light brown long wavy hair. I would always see her out the corner of my eye. I don't know if she was a spirit or angel, but I wasn't scared of her.

Sometimes I think my boys may see something too. They both fixate on the same spot in our ceiling when they were little boys and smile and laugh. Then my older son always looks like he is seeing someone by the doorway of the bathroom while I'm bathing him. So many times I've turned my head expecting to see DH or my mom but no one is there.

I also saw the ghost of a neighbor that passed away while I was in college. I never had met him. One day I went to get the mail and saw a man working on a pickup truck across the street under a tree. I went inside and asked my mom and brother who that was. They looked shocked. He had died a couple of months before and that is where he typically parked his truck to work on it.

I've had other instances too! They never scared me and I just got used to them.

Holy shit this thread is giving me mega chills the photos- OMG!

My great-grandfather was a bit of a drinker. He liked to go to the bars & lived in a small town, so he'd walk to them and you'd never know which one he'd be at. He passed in 1985. My great-grandma, his wife, had a stroke in 2001 and was in and out of rehabs. I visited her as often as I could. She always borrowed my red lipstick when I came & said she wanted to look beautiful for Lawrence. It was weird, since he'd been gone for a good 15+ years at this point. Finally, she was getting better and was set to come home on a Saturday.

Late that night, my mom dreampt that she was a teen and helping her gram (my great-grandma) find my pappy Lawrence. They were going from bar to bar to bar looking for him and couldn't find him anywhere. Finally, they found him. My grandma put on red lipstick and have him a kiss.

My mom was woken up with a call that my grandma had passed in her sleep.

My uncle passed away pretty suddenly about 10 years ago, leaving my aunt and 2 kids (at the time they were 8 and 6) to pick up the pieces. He was a bit of a compulsive shopper always buying things on QVC sometimes he would buy 2-3 of the same thing and store it away. He died in May and the older child's birthday is in June, about a week before her birthday my Aunt heard something fall in the bedroom upstairs that they never use (its a cape cod so there are just 2 extra bedrooms up there) She went up and in the closet a bunch of brand new toys in boxes had fallen off the shelf. Like my uncle wanted to make sure his daughter got her birthday gifts.

My cousin also sees rainbows on all her most important days, most fathers day's, the day she graduated HS, the day she moved into college, etc
