I realize the ceremony is not invitation only, so technically anyone can show up, but it was so awkward. The parents of all my other bridesmaids were invited, but I have a long-standing history of issues with this woman, so we did not invite her. We dismissed our guests by row (rather than do a reception line), and I was furious to reach that row and there she was. I was surprised that one friend brought someone he was just friends with. They ended up falling for each other at our wedding and are now married, so it's kind of a cute story! We moved our wedding back at the last minute because DH's landlord asked him to move out. So we had a small (30 people) ceremony with just our immediate families. One of DH's friends wanted to come and sat in the back. He didn't come to the lunch afterward, so it didn't matter. It's only awkward now because the best man ended up marrying that guy's ex wife. </p> <p>For our reception, the invite list was so huge, I doubt I'd know if anyone uninvited showed up. I was young and trying to stick to a limited budget ($8000 for 140 guests.... yeah.) </p>
