@CoCoBee: Yeah, so , when I read your post, I immediate thought of Chamillionaire's song "Ridin (Dirty)", only with modified lyrics . . .

They see me rollin
They waiting
Patrolling they tryin to catch me rollin swaddled

I think there are nicer PNP mattress add-ons that you can get to make it comfier ...

I think a pack n play is a really good suggestion. My daycare girl sleeps in her pack n play that I have for her just fine. I just put a thick blanket in the bottom over the mattress part to make it more comfy for her. She's been in it since 4 or 5 months old and now she is 2. She's currently still taking 2 hour naps in it.

Could you get a piece of thick foam, like from joanns, and then just lay a blanket or sheet on top? Or maybe a thick blanket on the floor would be enough? Like a quilt with batting, a crochey or knit afghan, or one of those double thick fleece ones. Could be folded to get to the desired size and thickness.

I would look into a travel crib or bed as well. Our friends have told us about a nap tent that works well for them when they travel. I'm sure whatever solution you come up with, after a little while of getting used to it, Cobi will sleep in it just fine!

@photojane: might not be a good long-term option? He's 6 months, so already rolling. Within a couple months he'll be crawling and pulling himself to standing... so not sure that's a practical option at this point... looks a little small too??

@MsMini: I would just bring the mattress topper to put in the pnp but it's crib size.

I don't find it a big deal to set up my pack and play when I travel. Maybe the family would let you leave it there, so you wouldn't have to lug it around (they are a big heavy). But then you would have a safe spot for him to nap. The pack and play mattress isn't super comfy, but Sawyer sleeps as well on it as in his crib or our bed.

So I am a nanny, only PT, one day - 8 hours for two kids and I bring Cobi (6 months) with me.

My hours recently changed, so now Cobi has to take both of his naps while we're there, which hasn't been a problem up until now.

Their oldest sleeps in a toddler bed, and the youngest co-sleeps with the parents. They are very AP and practice the "family bedroom".

Cobi has always taken his naps on their king-size bed, and has done great.

But now, at 6 months, he is rolling and is currently unswaddled for nights, and will {hopefully} be transitioning to unswaddled for naps as well... because he rolls even when he's swaddled {thank the Lord for video cameras}.

So my dilemma- you can see - is that there is now nowhere for him to take a nap.

I don't have a pack n play, and if I did IDK if I'd want to bring it every week, set it up etc... or is it not that big of a deal?

Also - he only sleeps in his crib because we bought him a mattress topper - so I worry that if I did buy a pack n play he wouldn't sleep in it. I've considered bringing the mattress topper and putting it on the floor, but he'd more than likely roll off of it and wake himself up.

Thoughts?
