@pinkcupcake: I was nauseated from weeks 8-14...I also have a terrible sleep pattern when pregnant (this has been consistent with both pregnancies). Early on the nausea was just annoying - so I assumed it would go away around 12 weeks like it did with DD. Around 14 weeks I was fed up with the sleep - contacted my Dr and she told me to try Unisom Sleeptabs (there are multiple unisoms with diff active ingredients). I started taking it to sleep at night and it worked wonderfully.

I also noticed that my nausea was going away. I was so thrilled I finally crossed into the anti nausea zone. Nope...the unisom I take at night is just curbing it. I have two or three times not taken the unisom (usually bc I am tired enough I dont feel I need it) and I wake up in the morning with AWFUL nausea.

So - I have confirmed with my Dr and will continue my 1/2 pill unisom each night for the rest of the pregnancy. I asked if I needed to take with the B6 and she said no - unless I see the nausea rear its ugly head during the day - mine appears to be controlled by the dose of unisom at night.

FWIW - on the nights I have not taken the unisom and woke up nauseated - I have taken 1/2 pill in the AM and the nausea goes away within 2-3 hours plus I havent noticed intense sleepiness.

@pinkcupcake: The B6 helps a lot--not with the nausea or vomiting for me, but for being able to eat more when I do eat, so I stopped losing weight as fast. I've got 25mg 3x/day, but usually only keep it down 2x/day.
Still experimenting with this. Tried the unisom on top of my B6, didn't throw up for 2 days but I was so tired constantly that I couldn't even do basic life stuff. I decided it wasn't worth it.
Last night I tried real Diclegis, I think it was better than the unisom (maybe slightly lower dose? maybe the extended release pill?). I'm undecided on using it again tomorrow BUT I haven't thrown up yet today.
I have zofran for emergencies. Also doesn't help with weight loss/eating, but it is nice for not looking green during an important meeting.

I was prescribed diclegis which i believe is just b6 and unisom. It helped take the edge off, but didn't stop the puking. And it made me very groggy in the morning. I just stopped taking it a few days ago at 15 wks and the puking is still here, I think I need to go back on it!

The only thing that helped when it was really bad (9-10 wks) is eating what sounds appetizing even if that means apple cider donuts all day, pushing liquids, and getting fresh air. I loved ramen and peppermint tea (not together!) Hope you feel better soon!

@sometimesshesings: I was on Zofran, unisom, and reglan all three simultaneously from week 5.5 to week 24. Baby girl is totally fine! Toddler girl was also fine and I took Zofran that whole pregnancy, but the triple combo I was on this pregnancy was better.

The Unisom B6 combo works best if you take it together. You can take 1/2 tab during the daytime and a full at bedtime. The 1/2 tab didn't make me sleepy during the day. The combo has been shown to help with noise but not so much with stopping vomiting. Thankfully I never vomited while pregnant so this combo worked well for me.

@gingerbebe: Reglan has its own safety issues that make it less than ideal.

Didnt really help during the day. I know Zofran is controversial right now - ask for Fenergan or Reglan. They are other MS meds that don't have those issues.

I took unison and b6 together at night for weeks (8-17?) and I think it did help. I was too sick in the mornings to keep meds down, so found that evenings worked better for me. The nights I skipped were a lot tougher the next day, so it took the edge off for certain

Haven't delivered yet, but my 37weeker is definitely on track!

I had HG and took 1/2 a pill twice a day from about weeks 6-20. Taking them made me really nervous (I never took any kind of medicine when pregnant with my son), but I couldn't keep anything down without them and I was losing weight fast. I was only able to eat about 500 calories a day, even with the Unisom, during the worst of it. I tried weaning myself off them a couple times starting around week 13, but it took until week 20 until I could eat/drink without them. At the beginning, it took me a week or two to get used to the sleep inducing effects.

Those of you who took Unisom for many weeks-- you had healthy babies, yes? I'm due with this LO any day now, and I'm a little nervous about it...

I kept throwing up the B6, but I took unisom nightly and it helped a lot. I was actually afraid to stop taking it once I felt better.
Also sea bands helped me a lot. They are a bit more conspicuous, but really did help.

I did without my first pregnancy but for #2 I took 1/2 or 1/4 tab before bed. It worked all day for me but I've always been really sensitive to medicine like that.

@pinkcupcake: My nausea was too severe to just take the unisom at night--I ended up needing a full tab every 6 hours. Your body adjusts to the meds after the first week and you stop being so tired. Luckily, I was six weeks pregnant over Christmas vacation and we were visiting family, so they watched LO and I took a lot of naps. By the time I was back at work, I was mostly adjusted.

I am really struggling with nausea this pregnancy. I'm about 6 weeks along and the constant, all day nausea has hit me hard and I'm pretty much lying in bed all day, trying not to throw up. My OB's office recommended b6 and Unisom (b6 during the day, Unisom at night).

If you've tried this - did this help? Does it help even if you just take Unisom at night? Assuming if you take it during the day you'll just feel too sleepy...
