Okay I called back....UHC told me that my company is one of the first to offer reimbursement for retail settings. So in case it happens to anyone else's work, what I have to do is buy it, then go to myuhc.com and full out the Medical Claim Form and submit the receipt and prescription with it and wait for a reimbursement check.

There is also a company called Milk Moms that I came across in my research

Good luck! I hope this eventually helps someone, although it might just be exclusive to where I work for now :(

@LemonLong: yes, my DH and I both have United Healthcare Choice Plus but our plans differ considerably.

ETA - I'm still going to call on Monday to see if anything's changed for breast pump coverage!

I have UHC too ( but didn't try to get a pump through them). UHC does a ton of custom plans for different employers so the rules may be different from one person to the other depending on their coverage which is why their are so many different experiences in this thread.

They told me I had to wait for the baby to be born.

No luck with target-nobody knows for sure how to do it! I'll be getting my Rx Friday then visiting a store to see what's up. I'm gonna call UHC Monday to see if I can get ahold of someone who knows how the Ex can be filed because Target had no idea. Neither did babies r us. I'll be the guinea pig :p

@habesbabe, yes, you don't pay because they will bill hour insurance. I asked who to see at these stores and the insurance woman was not sure but thought the pharmacist would be a good start.

That's awesome!! I have UHC but when I got my breast pump I had to go through a provider. I wanted a Medela, but Edgepark only offered the Ameda Purely Yours (which is a good pump too).

They must change this frequently because when I looked up my options a few months ago, going to a retailer wasn't an option! I think Genadyne now offers the lucina melodi

This is awesome! You used to have to go through a Durable Medical Equipment supplier to get a breast pump...now you don't have to!

Electric
● DME provider or retail setting 100% of eligible expenses
● Breast pumps (manual or electric) purchased through a retail setting (like Target, BabiesRUs, Wal-Mart) will require a prescription.
● Retail stores will pay as network providers.

I called to see what the deal was...she said you get your OB to write you a prescription for a pump, you go to Target/etc and you can get your pump! She said there's no restriction on which type.

I'm totally getting a more portable freestyle since I have a PISA!
