It sounds like you're on the right track! After a few nights of what you describe, DD would fuss just enough to let us know she wasn't going to bed willingly, then went right down. Be strong, mama - I know it's no fun to listen to your little one cry, even when there are no tears.

@T-Mom: She fussed and squawked a bit for about 30-40 minutes, but it was never frantic crying or pain noises, and no tears that I could see (when I checked on her after she was asleep).

That's great, hope it works out for you!
For DD we did three days of CIO which was intense. For DS we let him fuss since i just couldn't get to him right away, some times. We did pick one day to let him cry but it didn't take much at all since he was already used to it!

LO was sick this weekend, better by Sunday night, but last night and tonight she just doesn't want to go to bed. We do our routine and then put her to bed, but no go. It took over an hour last night of rocking, cuddling, bottles, etc to get her to sleep.

Tonight DH is out with a friend and I'm letting her fuss. It's been 30 minutes, I'm not hearing pain wails or screams, just loud fussing that is tapering off, with pauses. I think this might work for us.

How did you sleep train?
