I also usually knew more details about his work schedule such as if he had an early meeting.</p> <p>Sometime after kid #1 was born I told him he needed to fend for himself. I was too busy to worry about waking him up. Now we both set separate alarms.</p> <p>Your husband is being ridiculous. I hope he was joking.</p> <p>Also three kids in I would pay a lot to sleep so deeply that I can’t wake up on my own. Geez. A tone deaf reflection, but still . . .</p> <p>I'd do my best to put it back on DH. "I hear that you are anxious about whether you will wake up on time when we are gone. What have you considered as a plan for dealing with that?" But seriously? Just set an alarm across the room. When I’ve been alone and had to get up extra early for a flight or something like that, I’ve always just set my phone as well as a regular alarm across the room as backup. That way I’ve been forced to physically get up. I used to worry or feel bad that I wouldn't be there to wake him up BUT then I decided it's not my issue. He is a grown up and I can't be there every morning of every day for the rest of our lives.</p> <p>What I was willing to do was come up with a plan to help him wake up. We bought a couple of extra alarm clocks. He sets two alarms on his phone and then two alarm clocks in different spots across the room - volume as high as it can go on all of them. (I know this sounds insane but he is a deep sleeper, has been his whole life.) My husband has slept through his alarm twice while travelling. He hasn’t when he’s home, but I’m also up about 40 minutes before his alarm usually so if need be I could wake him up, but haven’t had to.
