She is just a boring old thumb sucker. When she was little and swaddles, she would flip her head from side to side

My LO rolls around in the crib, all over the place for up to 10-15 minutes, spinning around and flipping from fornt to back to front, and then flops back onto his belly and just passes out. It's like watching a beached whale fighting to survive. But so cute.

LO puts his wrist to his lips and makes sucking motions, but isn't actually sucking his wrist!

ohhhhh man, LMW scratches the side of her head too!! She has these patches of dry scaly skin around her ear and she has been scratching them nonstop. We've been putting a sock on her hand and she gets so angry when she tries to scratch.

Both of my kids are head-rockers... when they're falling asleep they whip their heads back and forth. WJ used to bang his head on the crib rails too if his head was close to them. So awful.

@lemong: We had that issue when my son was younger. He would do it mostly when he was pissed off. When it got to the point where he was bleeding, I ended up sewing socks onto a long sleeve onesie and putting on him at night so he couldn't do any more damage.

P scratches the mattress, mesh side of the pak n play, her leg (Wheh wearing leggings), and sometimes she'll hold her hands together kind of like "praying" and make scratching motions with her fingers there. I guess I'm just glad she isn't scratching herself.

@BabyBoecksMom: oh my gosh..I just laughed out loud which is terrible!

LO sings herself to sleep. "Ahh, ahh, ahh" on every exhale lol. She also puts her hand on the crown of her head. DH still twirls his hair when he's tired so I think she may do the same!

She scratches her head and since she doesn't have much hair, she leaves all these scratch marks! She has a bunch from last night since we were sleep training. My poor baby. :(

I babysat for a baby that used to bang his head on the crib like a battering ram to soothe himself to sleep. It was horrible!

She usually sucks her hands but sometimes she'll wrap her arm around the PnP mattress and sleep like that. I'll move her towards the middle of the mattress, but the next morning, her arm is around the mattress again (wedged between the mattress and the side of the PnP). Guess it feels good to her?

LO pats (hits) herself on the head when she's tired, nursing, and getting frustrated in the car. As a child I flopped my left foot to go to sleep. I still do it when I'm really, really tired. Does your LO have any funny self-soothing techniques? Or did you?
