@brownie: Yep, that's pretty much the point we were at. She was going to throw a fit no matter where she was and I needed to step away from it for a breather for my own sanity. She's a pro at falling asleep on her own already at 11 weeks. Bedtime was never the issue, she falls asleep no problem on her own and has been for weeks.

@zippylef: You won't get yelled at. We are absolutely horrible. My son CIO when he was 1 week old. Our options were cry in our arms or cry in his crib. At some point we had to sleep and he cried in his bed. We then went the other extreme and he never cries it out at 1 year old. But that is what we had to do for our son. It doesn't sound like she really CIO either she just needed to sooth herself.

@jennylynn: Honestly... I'm probably going to get yelled at but I let LO cry it out a little. At about 9 weeks she became a HORRIBLE napper. After a couple awful days of walking, rocking, patting, swaddling and still dealing with a screaming, overtired baby I finally just tried it. I would change her, swaddle her and then offer a bottle before taking her upstairs and putting her in her crib. She cried for the first couple days every time but it was really never more than 1-2 minutes. I was planning to go in every 3 minutes but I never really had to. It really only took a couple days. I honestly think my attentions were contributing to overstimulating her.

Ten weeks doesn't look like a wonder week, if she was born on her due date.

I agree with Zippylef, I would do whatever works for a couple days to get her to nap/sleep well and get back on a good cycle. For us it's babywearing. Of course, sometimes they're just crazy.

@jennylynn: Go to http://www.thewonderweeks.com/

We just got our next alert which looks like this:
The perceptual world your baby enters after the next leap is the world of 'events.' Until your baby has gone through this leap, he can only perceive smooth transitions. After he has gone through this leap, he is able to perceive a short, familiar series of 'smooth transitions' with all his senses – seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting – and also when it comes to interactions with those around him. Examples include the perception of a bouncing ball, or grasping something with a hand. Your baby will enjoy the classic nursery rhymes with gestures, such as "Itsy Bitsy Spider..."

Tip: If your baby is 'fussy,' be sure to observe if he is mastering new skills already, or attempting to do so.

After this leap, your baby's skills will have expanded and you may notice he:

•Is suddenly very active: one moment he is taking a rest, the next moment suddenly everything about him moves;
•Hardly misses when he grasps something;
•Puts mother's hand in his mouth;
•Pulls a cloth away from his own face (first still slow);
•'Hits' the table with a toy;
•Is busy with an "activity center";
•Searches to see where mom or dad are;
•Reacts to his mirror image;
•Responds to his name;
•Uses consonants;
•Pushes the breast away when he has enough;
•Grumbles when he is impatient.

This leap alarm email is only to inform you that your baby is at the point of making a new leap. In the chapter about this leap you can read exactly:

•What to expect during this leap
•How you can help your baby during the fussy phase
•How to stimulate your baby and help him master the skills of the world of Events.
Please do not forget that you are really able to help your child through this leap once you understand what is going on insight your babies head!

Have wonderful weeks!

She could be sleeping poorly at night because she is overtired from not napping. We had this issue around 9 weeks with our LO. I've found that the "sleep breeds more sleep" thing is SO true.

Is it possible she is in the middle of the Wonder Week? That is how my little guy is when he is in the middle. It helps us alot to know that he is in one.

LO is usually a very good natured, laid back baby. But yesterday, she fought sleep all day, and only took one 1 hour nap, and several short cat naps. Then, she fell asleep for bedtime at 8:30, went down as usual, but woke back up at 9:00 wide awake. I could get her to go back to sleep but she'd wake up as soon as I laid her down. We fought back and forth until finally at 11;30 she fell asleep.

She's taken 2 good naps already today, but she's still acting very sleepy and grumpy. I'm afraid to let her sleep too much because I don't want her up late again tonight. She seems to only want to be cuddled today, and isn't interested in her toys or mobile, or any of that stuff. She isn't smiley like she normally is either. Could she just be tired from our rought night before? She doesn't have a fever, and I've tried gas drops but still no change. Any insight on possibilites?
