@agold: Oh, I guess it's not necessarily the warranty in general... but travel damage. Here's the info from UB site: https://uppababy.com/travelsafe/?fbclid=IwAR2A1G8OxALqtGUCTqbGVI0PuXDs-PIXgopLjE3B0IzbQcZswpRoXemd0ig

@agold: We did have to take the wheels off, but my husband got pretty smooth at it. If you decide to go for it, do it a few times at home - once you figure out how it jigsaw the pieces all in it’s pretty easy but I remember him a bit frantic at the gate the first time.

I had the travel bag and I thought it was worth it because it came with insurance that covered any air travel damage.

@periwinklebee: Thanks for letting me know about this cheap little option. I'm all for cheap options. But one time I went to disneyland with my husband and brought a super cheap stroller becuase I was so scared the nice one would get stolen. Of course the cheap stroller kind of sucked in comparison to the big stroller and I just wished I would have taken the risk and brought the big one. So, here I am now trying to suck it up and take the risk with the big one.

@erinbaderin: Hey! Thank you for letting me know the rumble seat actually fits in the bag!!! Did you have to take the wheels off the stroller to fit it in the bag? And was it all a hassle? This is our issue - we unfortunately have no direct flight anymore to the place we are heading, so there is a layover. We are worried we may have to rush to catch our flight if delays and other stuff make our situation rushed. So thats why we want the stroller - to push the kids quick. If we are having to take it out out of the gate check bag and put it back together --- hmmm.. I guess we could still do that pretty quick.. but please just let me know if you had any issues in this regard.

@Foodnerd81: Did she gate check it or check it with luggage? I don't know if it makes a difference. We gate checked our Cruz a few times, where we used it just with the car seat. We put the car seat in a bag and then just handed the folded up frame plus the bagged car seat to the gate check guys. I didn't care too much if there were any scratches on the frame becuase it was already scratched just by virtue of me using. (I'm a pretty careful person, but are scratches normal, or was it just be not being as careful as I assume I am?)

@PurplePumps: Ugh, yes, this always matters to me. So now you all are making me think about getting the specific bag since I hear it can hold the whole set up. We are also taking a major flight next year when the kids will be 4 and 2. So, I'm sure we will bring the Vista with both seats still if the 4 year old still uses it. Honestly, we almost never use this Vista stroller and I pretty much consider it a wasted purchase. Since having the second baby, I don't even like to go in public much with them in a way that I would need to bring a stroller. :silly: Quick outings to wide open spaces is about all I do so using this stroller in general on this trip is already a hassle in my mind.

We got that stroller as a gift for when LO2 arrives, and I remember looking at the price of the bag and being a bit horrified - I think you're paying for the warranty that comes with it more than anything. There are much cheaper gate check bags that we've used (for a differently stroller) and it's been fine, but of course you never know with airlines.

I haven't looked into it much as #2 is still cooking, but I have this double umbrella on my Amazon wishlist now that's about half the price of the vista bag and gets good reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Children-Street-Stroller-Black/dp/B003TRVFJG/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=double+umbrella+stroller&qid=1568639189&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Definitely understand not wanting to have more stuff lying around, I don't either, but if you're going to be putting the stroller in and out of car trunks a lot while traveling it may also fit much easier... Or if you don't need it much while traveling, could you get an even cheaper single umbrella and babywear the little one?

We have done this! We bought the travel bag. You can fit the rumble seat in it too, although it's a tight fit. We probably only used it three times, at most, but it was worth it to me for the peace of mind. We actually just sold it on kijiji, might be worth seeing if you can find one second hand?

My friend checked her single UB a few times and the frame got very damaged. We live in MA where the UB headquarters is so they have her a new frame for free, but since she hadn’t used the bag, they really didn’t have to. They just have good customer service. I feel like with how much the stroller costs, it would be worth buying the bag. But make sure you can fit the rumble seat in with it!

I think I read on a stroller group that warranty for ub is only valid if you use their bag when checking in if that matters to you.

I think I'm probably going to get one of those cheap "gate check" bags from amazon so at least the seats won't get dirty. Let me know if anyone else has done this!

My only other double is a Thule. That doesn’t seem practical. I’ll check out Zoe but really don’t want to spend more money. :bummed:

Do you have another stroller alternative? That would not be my first choice for airline travel. And yes, dirty and janky and possibly broken. I’d look a the Zoe double for travel.

@Madison43: yes, I also have gate checked the vista but this will be my first time using the rumble. So I’m just curious if the gate check guys will take the rumble and tag it separately. And then, does it get all dirty and janky if I’m not covering it with a bag?

Ugh - we bought the bag and NEVER used it. We used to just gate check the vista and it was fine, though I never used a rumble seat.

If you’ve traveled with your Uppababy Vista stroller with the rumble seat on the plane, how did you check it?! Did you gate check it after using it in the airport? Did you use the uppa baby travel bags? I don’t want to spend the money on those. Do I need them? Help! Tell me how to do this. Thanks!
