Mine are 18-mo apart. DD loved the UBV board from the start. We do use our dbl stroller more often, but the board is great for our shorter outings. Now, my problem is that DS wants to ride the board as much as DD does, so I have to convince them to take turns. It also sucks that I can't use the parent console on it when they're riding. Overall though we've gotten a lot of use of it. I'd say it's worth it!

@californiadreams: we talked a lot about how the baby was going to go in the stroller and how DS would be such a big boy and get to ride on the "skateboard", as we call it. He was actually pretty excited about it and we didn't have issues with him wanting to ride in the stroller. We also had the bassinet in the beginning for LO2, so it wasn't even possible for him to sit.

@californiadreams: I found that the novelty was enough to get him to ride on it, and now he always says that when he ride on his skateboard he will get to see "his baby" and make faces at her.

@PinkElephant: ya i am waiting until i truly feel i need a double before i get one. I want to see how i can manage without one first.

thanks for the replies! i guess my concern was that DS1 will insist he wants to sit in the stroller or have me carry him (as is the case now being an only child), so i am nervous he won't take to the board. But i guess it is worth getting and trying.

I need to pre-order one for the 2013 UPV as well so I really want to make sure it is worth it but i am afraid if i wait too long, it won't be available to buy anymore.

We have the UBV ride on board and love it! LO loves it and uses it a lot even though the baby isn't here yet.

Yes! I can't speak specifically to the UppaBaby board, but we have the Bugaboo one, and it comes in handy especially now that DD1 is 3.25 (and wants to walk places, but gets tired) and DD2 is almost 1.5 (and getting too old to be worn most of the time). In a pinch, if the baby is in the seat facing you, you can even let your older LO sit on the end of the seat with feet on the buggy board. Probably not great for the stroller, but I've done this on occasion when my older child is really tired.

I also did break down and get a double, because the board isn't really helpful in situations where I need them both sitting (like so they can eat lunch on the way home from a long outing), but in most scenarios, the board does the trick!

We don't have an UBV, but do have a ride on board for our LO1, who is 3 years older than LO2. We live in a walking city and use it all the time. However, I've started to tell him that when he's 5, he can't ride it anymore, it's getting too heavy to push them both.

DS1 will be 3 years and 3 month when DS2 gets here. We have the UPV and love it. I also imagine i will wear DS2 a lot in the first year and DS1 can still sit in the stroller. But as a back up for when I am out with both kids with the stroller, i was planning to get the buggy board for DS1. Is it worth it? Do kids like it and want to use it?

We don't go out with the stroller as much in the winter, so he may be closer to 3.5 before i want to use it more regularly
