I really do love the UBV....Sometimes it would annoy me that the tires are sooooo wide, took some maneuvering to get though shop doors sometimes (the struggle is real, lol) but other than that it's been great. I don't recall there's a huge price difference (I got ours on sale, or had a %off code or something) so for a minimal price difference, I'd go Vista.

Oh and I don't find it heavy. I have a little SUV though so pulling it in and out isn't a big deal....

Love love our Vista! LO only strolled in the bassinet twice, but we live in the suburbs and carseat was always easier to snap in. We did use the bassinet for her to sleep in our room for the first 6 weeks. A major factor I picked it was for the rumble seat and/or kick board options. Depending on when we have a LO#2, I can add either on the Vista. As for the handlebar thing on the Vista (vs. not having one on the Cruz), the Snack Tray accessory has got to be hands-down the best thing ever in my LOs book! I wish we had one for our other strollers!

Vista for sure. That thing steers like a dream and is such a smooth ride. We live in NYC and I lug it onto the subway all the time, I haven't found it to be too heavy at all but maybe I am just used to it. We have a G Luxe too and I still find myself using the Vista as much as possible.

@hellobear: yes, i have to stop and lift the wheels frequently over large cracks in the sidewalk. but i just read about the 2015 version that will have improved wheels. it will be more expensive, but in my mind worth it depending on the terrain you are using it in.

I thought I'd chime in with another vote for the Cruz. I love it and LO seems to love it too.

We purchased ours on giggle during Thanksgiving last year - I think they were running a 20% promo at the time. There should be some sales coming up so you can probably get it for less than retail.

We have the Cruz and love it but we live in the suburbs so hefting it in and out of the car was a concern and the Vista seemed too big and heavy for us. We love the handling but we don't go on rough or cobblestone surfaces - mostly walks in our neighborhood and shopping. The Cruz has such a big storage area in the bottom which I love and has no bar in the middle like the Vista. We also have the Mesa car seat which we love because the installation was so easy and it clips into the Cruz. LO doesn't like being in the car seat so we have been using the stroller seat since 6 weeks. We got the Summer Infant Snuzzler and it works great for $10 over the expensive UP baby insert. LO naps fine in it at the deepest recline with the shade drawn and a tiny white noise machine. We also use it with the Britax parent organizer - the UP one was pretty worthless.

I have the cruz and I love it (we don't use it too often yet though), but to echo @raintreebee, it's not great on bumpy roads. I was going to take my LO on a walk in my neighborhood, so we'd be walking on asphalt rather than sidewalk, and it was so bumpy! I turned right back and put LO in our jogging stroller instead. I think the cruz is better for suburban life, like smooth pavement and going to the mall, etc.
it's definitely smaller than the vista but the vista has better wheels. My friend who lives in nyc said the vista is very popular, despite its size.

@raintreebee: could you elaborate on the wheels & sidewalks issue? we originally purchased the bugaboo bee3 that had the "improved steering" and were appalled at how hard it was to drive it on the sidewalk! (was a dream on carpet though... lol). We had to basically stop and lift the wheels over any cracks or bumps in the sidewalk.. I have a MB nano that was able to handle the sidewalk better!!! We found we could only push it over bumps if we locked the front wheels but then it made it very hard to maneuver. Do you have to do this also with the cruz? We are interested in getting the cruz but now i'm worried that it might have the same issues pushing/steering that the bugaboo bee3 had!

I have the cruz. I think I am glad we bought it because the vista wouldn't really fit through the front doors of our apartment building. But the wheels are not great for the broken sidewalks of Brooklyn. I would consider terrain. It is a bumpy ride and hard to push over obstacles. It's also hard to bump up and down the stairs because of the smaller wheels. Finally, I bought the bassinet, which my son loved for napping. I would just rock him back and forth in the stroller. But all babies are different.

@LindsayInNY: we live downtown and pretty much everyone has the Vista. It is fine for the subway, in and out of shops etc. I wanted something very sturdy for the subway so if someone fell on the stroller in a crowd she would be well protected. We walk around a lot though so I think that's why it's so popular.

@LindsayInNY: hmmm... Considering sales and the changes to the new vista, you could get the Cruz for cheap now (I think Albee baby has a good sale) then down the line when you have a second, decide what you want to do about a double. The new vista seems like a much better real double if they are close in age.

But I do love my bigger wheels on the vista in the snow here. I wouldn't want to fold it and carry up and down subways stairs though.

I think about strollers too much.

@Foodnerd81: That's why I bumped this :) I know there are gonna be some nice sales coming up. DH is on board with buying a stroller whenever. I'm a little superstitious and want to wait until after Fridays u/s (aka look next weekend instead of this one lol). We do plan on having two LOs but no idea of age differences really. And I worry a little about the Vista size in the city.

@travelgirl1: I have some concern about the size since we are in/near the city. I want to baby wear too but obviously don't yet know when I'll be doing either or how often!

@LindsayInNY: I have no experience with the Cruz but have been using our Vista for two years now. We still love it, it is a beast in winter, and copes well with snowy streets. Depending on where you live and how often you plan to walk, that could be a consideration. That said, I hate the rumble seat. DD loves it, but it doesn't recline which makes it terrible at nap time. We will probably get a different stroller for #2.

@LindsayInNY: all my previous points still stand, but having used it for over a year I still love my vista, but if I knew I was only having one baby, the Cruz would be tempting. The bassinet was a waste for us since c never liked it and you can't use it with a rumble seat, so we prob won't be able to use it without next baby. But look for sales on both coming up since they made changes to the 2015 ones!

Hey guys. Just an update. We decided to go for the Cruz (20% off at Giggle) since we plan on getting a huge jogging stroller down the line. Figured we don't need two big strollers. Also, I ordered an open box bassinet for it at PishPoshBaby during their 20% off sale so that only came out to $120. So in total, stroller plus bassinet were less than $500!

I'm debating this now too! Also for NYC, so stroller will be our main transportation method. I see tons of Vistas in my neighborhood, and we might want a rumble seat in a couple years, but the narrowness of the Cruz definitely appeals to me, PLUS they sell a Cruz bassinet separately now! I do think we want the bassinet, because we'll use it inside our apt too rather than getting something else for baby to sleep in in our tiny bedroom for the first couple months...but ugh, I don't know!

Odd question but does anyone know if the bassinet from the Vista would safely snap into the Cruz? I like the Cruz and I have friends who are done with their bassinets so it would be great to get to borrow it rather than buy a separate one.

@raintreebee: yup! I have been to that keyfood :) The trick is to just make sure to use the express checkout lane closest to the door--the vista will fit through that one but not the others. You'll learn all the little tricks of stroller maneuvering! :) We have no trouble in garden of eden either, which has pretty narrow aisles.

@hilsy85: @shopaholic: Thanks ladies!

@hilsy85: You are in Brooklyn Heights too, right? I am glad to hear that our neighborhood is manageable with the Vista. I was worried about the grocery stores (Key Foods when I forget to do Fresh Direct) in particular.

As far as the subway goes, I think neither the Cruz nor the Vista is a viable option since I mainly use a station without an elevator. But I didn't realize that babies can go in some umbrella strollers at 3 months. So I think we've decided to go for the Vista and an umbrella. Thanks for your help!

@raintreebee: we have the vista (and live in NYC) and I haven't found it to be much of an issue...sometimes it takes a bit of maneuvering to get in and out of doorways, but honestly our neighborhood is FILLED with vistas, so store owners are very very used to helping hold the door open or move things in aisles out of the way. I love our vista! We used the bassinet the first month for sleeping and on the stroller til he was 4 months old--he slept great in it.

As for subways...it's not a stroller you want to take on the train during rush hour, and you definitely don't want to take it up/down stairs. But if you find a station with a elevator you should be good. OR get an umbrella stroller as well--I think most moms I know have a regular stroller and an umbrella stroller. Although honestly, it's been easier for us to take LO in teh ergo on the train.

ETA not to say anything against the cruz at all! I have no experience with it though :)

We have the Vista and I LOVE it! I actually prefer the weight and big wheels of it. Anytime I test a lighter stroller, I just feel like they are more flimsy? I love the big basket and get admirers for it all the time. We didn't use the bassinet all that much for strolling, but we did use it every night for sleeping for the first 7 weeks! I didn't buy a different bassinet. I chose the Vista for the options of adding a rumble seat and piggback board too (which I'm sure your twins would get some use out of).

@lawbee11: @Foodnerd81: We are planning to have two close together but we also planned to have this one two years ago (stupid infertility!). And I've heard the rumble seat isn't that attractive of an option for two as foodnerd81 mentions. I kinda figure we'll cross that bridge when we come to it--we can always sell the stroller we have.

@lawbee11: @raintreebee: good point about it being wider for the rumble seat. My friend in NYC actually got rid of her ubv bc she doesn't want either kid so low to the city sidewalks and such. I'd use it in Boston but I can see her point with stuff flying up from subwY grates or whatever.

@raintreebee: We have the Cruz and love it. Are you planning to have 2 kids close together? We're most likely one and done, so we went with the Cruz. The Vista is wider to accommodate the rumble seat, but we wouldn't use that feature and I found the Cruz easier to navigate as it's narrower.
