I also want to echo the sentiment of the csection. I was given pitocin to "speed" up labor but labored for almost 24 hours. LO was not coming out. I tried everything (midwife recommended) to avoid csection including having one leg up in a brace thing for several hours. It just wasn't happening and I cried as they were wheeling me into surgery but the recovery was completely fine.

My daughter was transverse all the way up until the end, I was a mess. I mostly bounced, did hip circles, and pelvic tilts I think they're. I think she went head down during my induction or very close to it. You still have time, I was weary of doing anything to invasive for the reasons stated already.

@2PeasinaPod: thanks. That's exactly what I meant...the excitement of getting to tell my husband that I think I'm in labor--using the bouncy ball, telling our parents, blah blah...the whole works. It just won't be quite the same walking into the hospital feeling fine.

But I do understand that the end goal is to have a healthy little girl. I'm just worried....worried that she's in this position for a reason, and worried that she won't turn at the same time.

@Anagram: P.S. No one in my family had a C-section either! My mom even gave birth to a 9 pound 13 oz baby! 3 full pounds bigger than my DS!

@Anagram: I know EXACTLY what you mean! I wanted to call my mom in the middle of the night to tell her I was on my way to the hospital...and I did! At 2am, I called my mom to tell her we were on our way and had that excitement. I almost didn't! My doctor wanted to induce me the day after I was due (GD) and I wanted to wait the weekend to see if he would come on his own. Turns out that I didn't have to wait long!

I'm really hoping that you at least get your shot at natural labor! Just have in the back of your mind that it won't be quite as bad as you fear if you do end up having to go in for a C-section. And even if you have a planned date and time, baby may still have other plans :o)

@dookie32: my LO was breech early on, and stayed that way all the way till my scheduled c section. Turns out the cord was wrapped twice around her neck. If we'd attempted version, it would likely have meant an emergency section. Sometimes there's a reason!

My best friend's baby was breech and turned in the last couple weeks. She ended up with a csection after trying everything to get him out. Her recovery was perfect and she - who had a doula, took hypnobirthing, went for acupuncture, and saw a chiropractor regularly leading up to the birth - said she would have another csection in a heartbeat.
Don't stress! :)

@2PeasinaPod: yeah, I gues I'd rather have a planned C-section than an emergency C section later. I just really wanted the experience of going into labor. Some people might think that's strange, but I just never envisioned myself like, having a scheduled time for a surgery and coming out with a baby.

Plus...NO ONE in my family has had a c-section. None of my sisters, cousins, close friends, etc.

My son was breech at 32 weeks and turned sometime before 37 weeks. I never tried anything to get him to move because of what you said- you never know what's going on in there. One of my doctors was a firm believer that the baby is that way for a reason and maybe you should just let them do their thing. It could be the cord, it could be something else but I felt better when I stopped worrying about it.

@oliviaoblivia: I want to echo you!

I was scared to death of a C-section. After 2 hours of pushing and DS getting stuck on my pelvic bone, there was no way he was coming out naturally. I was devastated when they told me I had to have a C-section, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. It was definitely hard the first few days, but you start to heal quickly!

Hoping your baby turns, but if she doesn't, you'll be ok!!

I'm sorry-- that must be so stressful! My sister's baby was breech around that point (maybe a bit earlier, I forget) and she did all the same things you are doing. He did flip, eventually, but she needed an emergency c-section anyway for other reasons. She had been really committed to a natural childbirth and was really upset about having a c-section, but later she was obviously glad she did since she had a happy outcome. So I would say keep doing what your doing, but if you can, accept that you don't have total control and that a planned c-section is OK too. Good luck!

I didn't have a transverse baby, but wanted to positive spin on having a c-section. I was adamant that I have a vaginal delivery but it wasn't in the cards for me. To be honest, the c-section was not half as bad as I expected. My recovery was a breeze. There are a lot of horror stories about c-sections out there. If that is what has to happen there are ways you can make the experience fairly pleasant and more "natural".
When they told me I'd need one I sobbed for an hour. If they tell me I need one with my next baby, I'll be totally fine with it.

I can't remember exactly, but I think when we noticed he was transverse to the time he flipped head down with about 2 weeks. We did an ultrasound and saw him transverse so then I started the spinningbabies stuff and each appointment we'd do another ultrasound to check and at my 39 week check he was head down again. And the whole time I'm freaking out and my OB is telling me "Dont worry!!! He could flip at the last minute!" but its hard not to freak out about it!

@Koolbreeze: how long did you do it before he flipped? I'm reading their "success stories" online and people talk about the baby flipping after they do it for a couple of days. Today is day 5 for me and I just don't notice anything at all when I'm doing all the exercises. Like...sometimes she kicks a little, but she definitely doesn't make any big movements.

So, my LO has always been head down at every appointment...until this past Thursday when I was told she'd moved and is now transverse. My OB practice works with an ultrasound practice downstairs in the same building, and they are super busy, so my "36 weeks ultrasound" isn't going to be until 37 1/2 weeks.

I'm kind of freaking out, because I've been doing every single thing on spinningbabies.com since Thursday, and the baby hasn't moved and I really, really don't want a C-section.

I'm willing to try moxibustion or a Webster chiro appointment, but the doctor didn't seem clear on which side the baby's head was on, and where her bum was---only that she is transverse.

So I'm almost afraid that doing all this stuff without knowing which side her head is on will just make her turn the opposite way and then she'll be totally breech.

Other than Webster chiro appointment and moxibustion---of it's been recommended anywhere on the internet, I've been doing it the last 4 days.

Inversions 3 times a day? yup
pelvic tilts? Yup
Sitting on the exercise ball doing hip circles? yup
swimming upside down (or as close as I could get to upside down)? yup
Putting ice on the top part of my belly while putting something warm down at the bottom, WHILE doing an inverted pelvic tilt? check

This girl isn't moving.

I'm not willing to do version....just because DH had a cousin who did version 3 times (beacuse the baby kept turning back to transverse), but eventually the baby dropped head down and they tried to deliver, but the baby was still born because the cord was wrapped so tightly around the neck, which is why the baby kept going back to transverse. So even though that's rare, I'm just not willing to go that route...I'd rather have the C-section.

My doctor seems totally nonplussed by the situation...like, oh well, you'll just need a c-section if she doesn't turn soon.

I feel like I'm already doing everything I can---I kind of just want some stories. Did anyone have a stubborn transverse baby move this late in the game?

Also, is it crazy if I hang out upside down in one of these?
