Also, you're not alone!

I'm 16 weeks now and only just starting to get my appetite back. I lost a few lbs the first trimester, but my doctor said that was fine. As long as I'm gaining by my 20 week appointment he isn't really concerned (I'm just now up to my pre-pregnancy weight!)

I'm on 1,500 mg of metformin and my "morning sickness" was a LOT like what I felt when I first started taking metformin. I never threw up, but in the evenings I'd just feel so awful. I ate a lot of baked potatoes and bowls of cereal for dinner just because I didn't want to think about trying to prepare food.

But I'm also on 200 mg of progesterone, so I'm sure that also didn't help the symptoms.

Do your best! Your baby will get what it needs from you!

Are you on the extended release version? If not, ask your doctor about it. I've taken both the regular and ER and the ER is much easier on the stomach.

You could also try to spread out the doses if you're taking multiple pills.

I've been there and my appetite and weight gain didn't pick up until after 20-23 weeks. Baby 2 was a healthy weight and Baby 3 is measuring fine at almost 36 week pregnant. I managed my GD without meds for pregnancy 2 but I take glyburide and metformin for my current preg.

@MaryM: I've been on in for three months now. I take it around 7 each night so between dinner and bed. I'm supposed to be eating 210g of carbs every day but I just can't eat.

Are you newly on Metformin?

I had NO appetite while getting used to it, but eventually I got over that.

Are you taking it in the evening, or at bedtime? You might try at bedtime. I had less issues then.

and although it seems to make sense to me that carbs cure nausea, when I cut out carbs I felt so much better.

I'm 12 weeks today (woo hoo!). I'm struggling with eating. I'm on metformin in the evenings. I have no appetite and the thought of food makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. I've been forcing down some food, which instantly makes me feel like I'm going to be sick. I don't actually throw up. Sometimes even water is a struggle.

I'm supposed to be following the diabetic diet but I can barely get snacks in much less 3 meals and 3 snacks. Anyone been here? I'm worried what this is doing to the baby.
