Probably not, though we won't discourage others from doing it. I still have a bunch from when I was little, though I have no idea how to go about cashing them for the money, hahaha.</p> <p>One thing that my grandma did that was sooooo cool was she bought savings bonds when I was born and then gave them to me as graduation presents from high school! So they were almost (or maybe they already were, I forget) mature at that point! I'm also hesitate to use 529 plans cause what if they get good scholarships or don't go to school - I'm not 100% sure, but aren't there penalties if not used for school. Since savings bonds are now purchased at face value is it better to put money into a 529 for her? What are you doing for your LO? </p>
