New Orleans is a great idea, especially if you need a break from all things TTC, since it's a fantastic place to go without kids! Although pricey, the Roosevelt is extremely nice. Even if you don't stay there, they have a really good casual restaurant and of course, the Sazerac bar. Just avoid Mardi Gras if you don't want the big party and expensive rates.

I just returned from Sedona, AZ and it was gorgeous and I loved all the amazing hiking, but if I were without kids I'd choose New Orleans to laissez les bon temps roulez

@youboots: I love rain .... if I know I'll be indoors all day. I think I've been convinced enough to stay away from Portland/Seattle around that month. Thank you and to everyone else!

@periwinklebee: Sedona sounds beautiful. I went on a family trip years ago, and mostly did church-y stuff, so it would definitely be a different experience with DH if we went there. Thanks for the suggestion!

Denver is great! But I'm biased, since that's where I live! March should be good weather, but could be a blizzard as well. So much to do! Living here, we go to Arizona in the spring, which is a must if you like baseball or want to go swimming. Both places have lots of good food and activities.

I’d skip Portland in March unless you live rain. Fly into Redmond and go to Bend, Ore.

That said I’d love Palm Springs. We went for Easter last year. I’ve also heard Scottsdale is amazing. I’m also team Vegas anytime. But I like warm weather and pools.

@Mrs. Oreo: Probably my favorite trip I ever went on with DH was to the Sedona, AZ area in February - it's absolutely fabulous, gorgeous weather and gorgeous scenery (sunsets especially...) The perfect place for a romantic weekend to reconnect...

Wow, thanks for the ideas everyone! New Orleans sounds amazing, as does Arizona, especially during that time of year. Hmm....I'll have to do some digging!

Come to my hometown of Scottsdale, AZ! You can't ask for better weather than March in AZ. It's guaranteed to be sunny and pleasant! We have lots of great local events in March- especially Spring Training baseball. In February is the Phoenix Open golf tournament- one of the most fun events (and I don't follow golf)!

I second New Orleans!
I'm not sure how far of a flight that is for you.

We went on a whim with some friends, I thought it was going to be dirty and cheesy, like the Las Vegas Strip - but I actually loved it and highly recommend visiting.

Seattleite here -- it's pretty rainy and gross in March (at that point I'm usually done with the wintry rain and ready for spring!), but if you don't mind the weather there's lots of fun stuff to do.

My cousins go to Arizona every year in March, and I always though that would be a nice time to visit there. There's also Texas (check out the scene in Austin, maybe?) and NOLA sounds nice too!

We went to the southern Oregon coast in late March last year and while the weather was hit and miss, I loved watching the squalls roll in off the ocean and it was nice to go somewhere when tourists weren't completely crowding the place.

Portland and Seattle are both great, but weather could be pretty gross that time of year. I've traveled to that area quite a bit for work, and that time of year seems to just be very gray. It generally hasn't been pouring or anything. It just always seems to be drizzling and chilly. I'm sure PNWer's would disagree. This is based on my experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

My husband and I are struggling with the same issue. We're going somewhere in April, but weather is a crap shoot in many places that time of year. Right now, we're leaning toward Sedona, AZ.

I think your ideas are great. I visited Seattle in March with my husband a few years ago in March and there is definitely a ton to do - it was overcast or raining the whole time but we didn't mind.
I also love NYC in March.
I haven't been to New Orleans but I would love to go there for an architectural tour and check out all the amazing food.

The baby making is stressing our marriage, so thinking of taking a 4-6 night trip in March 2018 with DH for his birthday. My first choice is Denver then Seattle or Portland, but wondering if anyone has suggestions for other locations?

Looking for:
- affordable places to stay, nothing fancy needed but needs to be clean (DH is OCD about hotels that look clean but really aren't :meh:).
- fun, local events unique to that city
- 2-3 hour flight time from WI (I get sick flying too long :bummed:)

Thanks in advance!
