You don't always need to do a wet pail. More frequently people are doing dry pails with liners but usually that means you wash more than once a week. I did find a wet pail was more useful to me for my fitteds for night since they were sooo soaked but other than those I kept a dry pail for our diapers. We also didn't buy NB sized diapers and instead did a rental for about 6 weeks and that was perfect for us. There is only one service in our area and it just wasn't for us. Different services have different requirements so you might want to do a little more research if that is the way you are leaning.

I used disposables the first month, then transitioned to BumGenius AIOs. I put them in a diaper pail when dirty/wet with a washable liner, and wash every other day. I do not soak or use liners/sprayer, just throw them into the wash. We're starting solids next month so I will start using liners then for the solid dirty diapers. No soaking, no diaper service. I don't think diaper services even clean BumGenius, only the tri-fold. I love cloth diapering, it is so much easier than I ever imagined!

I'm not even sure if there is an option for a diaper service here. We just didn't put LO in cloth until she fit into the AIO's, which was pretty quickly because she's a big girl. We don't have a bucket for presoaking. I do a wash every other day and do a soak in the washing machine before adding detergent.

A few people suggested using a diaper service during the newborn stage instead of stocking up on NB size cloth diapers. Did you use a service the entire time past the NB phase? From what I can tell online CDs require a bucket nearby for a pre soak. If you have a service can you skip this and just give them dirty diapers in a wet bag?
