The manual (and/or the seat) should have an expiration date.

There isn't any standard on expiration, it depends on the seat. The manual will tell you what the expiration is. We have baby buckets (chicco and graco) that expire in 6 years, a convertible (britax) that expires in 7 years, and our new carseats (diono) are 12 year expiration.

My SIL just offered me her booster seats and they're from 2012 and 2008. My kids are 2 and 8 months, so a ways away. What is the recommended limit? I'm sure I'm wording it weird, cuz google told me so. I know for infant and convertible seats it's 5 year from manufacture date, what is it for boosters? TIA!
