@HellOnHeels: I always pee after sex to avoid a UTI but I started using Softcups to hold it all in while I did my business. I just took it out the next morning. It worked for me! Also I never peed beforehand so I would have plenty to flush my urethra out with afterwards. I've had so many UTIs when I was younger. So awful.

@Crystal: this was @holisticmama 's advice, from her doctor. I didn't research it to death before trying it since it seemed innocuous, but I did a little reading and the reasoning made sense so I gave it a try. Apparently in some fertility treatments a fuller bladder is suggested to help align/ straighten(???) the uterus. I found this study after a quick search:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1447-0756.2011.01684.x/abstract

I am no doctor, expert, etc., but I wasn't bursting to go to so gave it a whirl. BFPs are such random luck that it probably had nothing to do with it, but..... .

When I was actively TTC I would try and lay in bed for 10 minutes or so after BD. However, the cycle I got my BFP I got up as soon as sex was over to pee to prevent a UTI.

@hellonheels: I only wait about 10 minutes, if at all, because in the past when I had not peed after BD - I got a UTI both times. NOT FUN. 10 minutes seemed to be enough for me because I did conceive last month, it just didn't last.

Keep in mind that this may not have had anything to do with the successful BFP, BUT....

The night I'm pretty sure we conceived I didn't go to the bathroom beforehand (it was @holisticmama's advice from her doc to have a full-ish bladder). Post BD I laid down for about 45 minutes, sometimes with my legs in the air, sometimes not.

Again, it all could have been random and I know how incredibly lucky we are, but thought I'd share my story since you asked. Good luck!

I always pee right after sex to prevent a uti. I never waited more than maybe 5 minutes and got pregnant the first cycle both times. I guess I figure the good guys that swim fast are already on their way, no need to wait around for the weaklings to get up there lol.

@HellOnHeels: Ha! I hope it works for you!

Just wanted to add, though, that TCOYF DOES suggest doing them an hour or so after BDing, so that you clear all the 'leftovers' out to better tell what's going on with your CM. So that might have been what you were thinking of.

@HellOnHeels: Yeah, I think TCOYF has the same info that @LIL BEAN: posted - don't do kegels until 1/2 hr to 1 hr after BD! I'm sure it's not a huge deal, since you'll still get sperm up there either way, but it will help to not push them out right away.

I just read something on Fertility friend about NOT doing Kegels right after sex if ur TTC. (It was mentioned in an article abt checking your CM) This is it:
"If you are having trouble finding cervical fluid, doing kegel exercises (tensing and relaxing the muscles that control the flow of urine) may help to push cervical fluid to the vaginal opening and make observation easier. (Avoid doing kegels within the first half hour or so after intercourse though as this could push the semen and therefore the sperm away from the cervix, which is exactly where you want them to be). Exercise and bowel movements also push cervical fluid to the vaginal opening making observation easier. You may find that the best time to check your cervical fluid is after a bowel movement."

TMI.... when we BD around O....the stuff stays up there for a looong time like 18 hours. But at other times of the month it comes out soon after DTD. Does this happen to anyone else?

I always waited about 15mins, then got up and made sure to pee. I've been told that not peeing after sex is a very common way to get a UTI. At that point, any sperm that was going to make it will have already done so. Plus, I can't stand to wake up to a gooey mess..
