@Mamaof2: I do it on dry hair, and just on the ends or my hair would get super greasy.

What I do is run some through the ends of my hair and then clip it up and do something else for half an hour, then shower as normal. I think some people might do it after their shower and then rinse it, but I tried that once and felt very mayonnaise-y!

Also if you would rather not raid your fridge, I've had the same results with Aussie Three Minute Miracle - you slather that on after you shampoo, leave it on for three minutes, then rinse it out.

I finally bought coconut oil from Trader Joe's and used it on my face & body as a moisturizer and so far, I love it! I love the coconut scent, I love that it's not greasy, I love that it hydrates so well and it's all natural!

@My Only Sunshine: so for the mayo you do it on wet hair or dry? And you just rinse, no washing?

@Mamaof2: I do the mayo in the hair trick! It makes your hair feel so good and it lasts for like a week.

The apple cider vinegar rinse does make your hair really shiny and clean feeling, but you smell like easter eggs. I've done the beer rinse before but it makes you smell like a bar and my husband was sort of annoyed I poured a perfectly good beer down the drain.

For the honey face mask, this sounds weird but it totally works - mix together honey with a little used coffee grounds!! It acts as an exfoliant and the caffeine tightens your pores. Not too much or it's super messy.

@Mamaof2: Yeah, some manufacturers add sugars to honey to cut it (making their profits go up, since raw, real honey is more expensive than sugar/corn syrup) - if you buy honey at places like the Dollar Store and similar it’s often “honey-flavored”, not real honey.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/08/honey-fda_n_5111907.html

There is also “raw” honey vs. much of what you’ll find in stores. Store-bought honey is fine to use; just be careful of where you buy it, especially if it’s imported honey.

Crazy!

@Mamaof2: Yes, honey does have anti-bacterial properties - along with tons of other good stuff!

I use honey as a facial/mask; you can use any kind, but just make sure it's actual, real honey. I get whipped honey at the farmers market which works especially well as it's a thicker texture.

Just spread honey on your face, let sit for about 20-30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Skin is SO soft, and it helps clear up your skin too!

Has anyone tried avocado masks? I want to, but I keep eating all of my avocados :silly:

@Mamaof2: It completely tamed my breakouts! I didn't know until then that I was breaking out because of allergies! I only use a drop or two, and I wouldn't wear makeup over it. But it makes my skin soft, and has that anti inflammatory effect that coconut oil has.

Coconut oil is supposed to be great for just about everything. Cool tea bags on your eyes take away bags.

I just saw this and want to try it - my hair is sooo dry!

Mayo can replace $30 hair masks
Those of us seeking hair hydration can skip the costly salon visits and expensive tubs of hair masks and just head to the fridge. “I know this is yucky, but I like to use about a half cup of mayo (the full-fat kind is best) as a hair treatment about once a week,” reveals Aly Walansky of A Little Alytude. “Let it cook — meaning let the mayonnaise set on your hair — for about 20 minutes before you rinse it out. Coconut or avocado oil are great too, but mayo has been uniquely successful for me for restoring body and shine.”
--------------

I have also had success putting honey on a pimple for 5 mins before washing and the next day its significantly smaller. Honey is suppose to have anti-bacterial properties.

Do you have any others for me to try?
