I wouldn't do it on purpose and settle for names just because they all began with the same letter, but if I truly loved the names, why not?

I have 3 siblings and all 4 of us have K names (it usually took my mom two rounds to get the right name when yelling at us as kids! :) ) DH has 2 older siblings with J names, same as him.
When we first got pregnant we both decided we liked Emma for a girl, and we chose the name Ethan when our son was born (it was between Ethan and Kipton). I think we're pretty set on Emma if we do have a girl next, but if it's a boy it's open, we currently don't have another E name, so we'll see what happens! I'm good either way.

As long as they aren't to matchy or similar, I wouldn't mind having the same letter names. Like my daughter is Luna, if I had another kid I would totally consider names like Lance or Leticia, but not similar names like Luca or Lena.

Our names start with different letters but match by both being 4 letter, biblical, Hebrew in origin, names. They also "match" by honoring my parents and DH's grand parents in their middle names.

My oldest is J, my twins are J and N, and then my daughter is L so we have two J names but it's because they are named after our grandfathers so it just happened to be that way.

I never thought about it before, until one of the names we are considering starts with the same letter as DD1's name. I've struggled with whether I like them sharing the same first letter...It's definitely cute for the 2 of them! But if we have a 3rd, he/she will probably have a name that starts with a different letter. And is that weird? I don't know. But we may not even have a 3rd, and if we knew for sure that we definitely are stopping at 2, then I'd be totally fine with H&H names:)

I would never do it on purpose, but it did just happen because we loved the name and it started with an L, and so does our middle kid.

Hilariously, our kids first initials spell "LOL".

@twodoghouse: HAHA this makes me laugh, we ruled out J names for this reason. DH and I both have a J letter name and even though there was a name I liked, I didn't want to use it because I didn't want another child to feel left out, and I didn't want 4 or 5 of us all to have Js but I seriously considered it for DD2. I think Girls are different, boys won't care as much in my mind!

I am ok with it. Our kids have the same first initial, but we don't plan to continue that with any other children.

@dc yoga bee: ha, my DH and I are the same way (A and B names) and now we have two C children. Everyone wanted our youngest to be a D name, but that was getting too corny. It is kinda fun to sign family letters The ABCs though :)

My DH and I have first names that begin with M. That being said, MIL, my mom and sister also starts with M. My dad gets confused all. the. time. Even their dog's name starts with M.
I think our family is M'd out! Our DS is W so we definitely broke that "tradition" :) I think it would be hard to find another name that starts with W that I would like though I wouldn't be totally opposed to it.

My mom and I have the same first initial and people got our names confused when I was little, including both sets of grandparents. I always said I wanted my children's names to start with a different letter. But if I absolutely fell in love with a name I might change my mind!

I actually did not want to use the same letter/be too matchy matchy. However, it just worked out that the name we loved for DD2 has the same letter as DD1 and I'm not willing to give it up just because of that reason. My only concern is if we do end up having a 3rd, I don't want to feel pressure to use an E again just because the other 2 have it :bummed:

Like others, I'd be okay with it for two (as long as they weren't too cute or matchy), but not for any more than two. There are certain sounds that are over-represented in my extended family (K/hard C, M is getting there) that we will probably avoid, just because it's confusing enough as it is.

I did it with my 2. It wasn't intentional. I loved my girl name since college. She's my second and we had already named our son an H name. We considered other names for her but decided to go for an H name as well. It wasn't a big issue for us to use the same letter, but won't do it again if we have a third.

I'm ok with them having the same beginning letter but I'm not going out of my way to do it. My brother and I both start with a "c" but that was just a fluke. I know a family who all have to start with a "k". The grandmother had 3 boys and named them all "k" names and now all of their children start with "k's" there are like 10 people with k names.. it kinda grates my nerves when I see it all over fb :P

@Mrs. Jacks: Exactly! I keep mine sneaky- our first starts with a C as a nod to my maiden name. Both boys are 7 letters like my first name, just little details since we all have my husband's last name. Our second's ends in tt, just like my husband, but both of his names are from my side. We took turns with middle family names, my husband got the first after a great uncle who was a big help in paying for his grad degree. I'm a little terrified of the internal naming pressure in my brain if we go for a third. But as you have shown, it all works out!

All the alphabetical name mentions make me think of my favorite musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers :silly:

Our kids will all have the same first letter. My brother and I's names rhyme, but my mom didn't do it on purpose. We love it though. I like the cohesiveness of sibling names, corny or not! DH and I are "A" and "B" and he was really hoping there would be a "C" name we loved lol. Nope, it's an M!

We're deliberately doing that with middle names. But in this case I like that it ties back to R, and DH's middle names starts with R as well. But if R had lived? I don't know that it would matter as much. We're probably one and done, but if not, I don't know if we'll continue it with another. Well, a boy will because we have to use DH's middle name for family reasons, but not sure about a girl. Not even sure we could agree on another R name for a girl! But I don't think we'd do it with first names ever, and this one won't go by her middle name like R would have.

ETA- I hadn't thought about it, but my mom and her siblings all have L middle names, presumably on purpose. I thought it was neat when I was little. Now I just don't really care one way or the other. Not like the vast majority of people in their lives have any idea anyway.
