Since you'll be going in the off season you might be able to find spots till 10.</p> <p>The only must-have I'd suggest is getting treats at the lodge and having a little picnic on the grass. If you're close to a shuttle stop you're set. Most hotels in Springdale are by one. They essentially have two shuttles. One that runs through the town and various parking lots to the park entrance and then a separate shuttle that runs within the park. The hotels near Zion are located in Springdale. It has essentially one main road that most of the hotels are located on. During high season, there is a shuttle bus that stops in front of every hotel cluster and gets you to the park entrance. I'm not sure if it would be running now because we went in the summer, but I'm sure if you call your hotel they will know. The closest hotels to the park are walking distance, but even the "far" ones are just a few minute's drive. We stayed at the Quality Inn, which was nothing special, just what was available when we went. It was about 15 minutes walk from the park entrance but we elected to take the shuttle most times because we didn't want the kids getting tired before we even started. There is a separate shuttle that is inside the park and gets you to the trailheads. We love, love, loved it! It's on our list to go back to when the kids are a little older for some more serious hiking!
