@Happygal: I wouldn't assume anything in this process. But I do know that my lining was back to a good thickness for my 3rd IUI. I don't know if it had anything to do with taking the Estrace, or if it was the fact that I was off of Clomid.

@Mrsk: @Happygal is correct about the triple layer factor. And I don't know that there's any other way to know about your lining thickness except for a transvaginal ultrasound.

@MrsK: I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. What type of follow up care if your doctor doing?

My periods are like yours, but when I went for my first exam with the RE, she said my uterine lining was in the "good" thickness range. I wish I had the actual number b/c it seems to vary as to what is considered good or not. I've also read that another important factor are the uterine layers--there should be three stripes. Anyone else can elaborate on this or tell me if I'm wrong, b/c I don't know much past that! I'm not sure if there are tell tale signs of a thin lining, but it's easy for doctors to measure. When I first started TTC, I asked about a possible thin lining and getting pregnant here and another board--there were people who said their periods were very light as well, but they had successful pregnancies.

I've read through this board, and don't have any advice, but have lots of questions for you ladies! I've wondered my my lining is thin, because I have the lightest periods ever! I use one lite tampon (probably shouldn't) and its not soaked through in one day, and then the rest of my period (2 days) I use a panty liner, but I barely need it. I just had a mc and the amount of blood wasn't enough to soak through a pantyliner....I'm wondering if this means I have a thin lining, and if perhaps this could be a future problem as we will be trying again this month. How did you know you had a thin lining? Were there any symptoms/signs?

@Sweetooth: I'm wondering the same thing. Is it safe to assume that my lining will build back up to a sufficient amount in time for the next cycle without any type of help?

I tried calling the office to ask them some of these questions, but missed them before closing time (they shut it down earlier than usual on Fridays-rats!)

I remember on my second IUI cycle with 50mg Clomid my lining was thin and they put me on Estrace prior to completing the IUI and during my TWW to help thicken the lining. I wonder why some people are prescribed estrogen pills, and some people switch to Femara.

@Happygal: I hope so too! I think in theory, fully trusting your doctors is great but at the same time, I read one of the notes after a visit with my previous RE before she left and it was completely inaccurate. One portion said the opposite of what I told her. I definitely don't think she did it on purpose, but I was glad that I caught it.

@Princessbaby: whew, sorry Clomid was so rough on you! There were a few times when I was emotional and my husband asked, "Is this the Clomid at work?" I'm not certain it was, but I went with it b/c I was happy to have something to blame for my irrational behavior! I did have to tell myself to get a grip when I read a book with a student about Noodles the dog whose shadow is his best friend. I found it depressing.

@Sunshine1810: fingers crossed my clinic is as accommodating with records as yours! My husband believes you should fully trust your doctors and not concern yourself with records and such, but I feel differently about it. I want them not only for my own records, but so I can google some things and easily compare notes with you all!

This happened to me on my 1st/only clomid cycle. My RE said it happens to 30% of Clomid users. I went to folistim after and my lining was fine.

I also was a hormonal MESS on clomid (clomid manipulates your hypothalamus, so your brain, in order to control your hormones, and this makes some peeps cray- I was one), and it also gave me a CYST on my ovaries and we had to sit out a month so cyst could resolve. So one cycle of clomid wiped out 2 cycles. Not a member of the Clomid Fan Club over here!

@Happygal: Yes, no baby aspirin w/out a prescription! And my old ob/gyn and my RE now both skip oral meds and go straight to injectables. Things are so diff. here.....When I told my BFF in the US I'd be doing injectables in Sept. if needed, she was like "FINALLY!!!" She couldn't believe they hadn't put me on something already.

@Happygal: I haven't had that issue with Clomid but my friend has. She switched over to Femara and it definitely took care of the issue. I hope that works for you too! As far as the records are concerned, you should just be able to request them. I am very fortunte that my clinic puts all of my records and visit notes online so that I can look at them when I get home.

@KentuckyGirl: do you wear it/take them on certain cycle days? Thinking back, I think my original thickness was at the low-end of the normal range. Researching this has made me also realize how much of difference there is in what is considered good thickness, normal, etc.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I think you could write a guest post on infertility overseas! You can't get baby aspirin, right? I wonder why they don't do any kind of oral meds.....interesting.

Sorry, that stinks! :( I think this is one reason why they don't do Clomid here. If need be, I'll go right to Follistim (inj.) in Sept. I wanted to try oral stuff first, but that doesn't seem to be an option at my clinic.

@Happygal: There are two ways to do this, I think...if they give you any of your stats from a visit and you have any way to log these, that's one way to do it. (At my old clinic my DH used to take notes on his phone as the dr called out measurements to the nurse, and at my current clinic they have patients intercept ultrasound notes so I photograph them in the bathroom!) You can also formally request your records, although there may be a charge for this. Some clinics get hostile about it and my previous clinic later told me that I was not welcome to come back, but that's BS - it's your right!

@Mrs Green Grass: I have baby aspirin and will start taking it again right now! I wish I had the RE's email--I'm going to call the nurse tomorrow with a lot of questions. There is one nurse that is really kind (I wish she was the doctor!)

@Spaniellove: I think it's extra disappointing b/c the Clomid provided extra hope for this cycle. I had an ultrasound the first visit ever, and while I don't remember the numbers, I do remember her saying it was a normal amount.

I've realized that I need to get all of our results for my own records. Do your doctors normally provide these for you, or is something you ask for?

Just got back from the RE. At CD 21/6 dpo, my uterine lining was at 4.3 mm. I knew this was a risk of taking Clomid, but didn't think it would happen after just one cycle of the lowest dose. I'm so disappointed. This might be the earliest in the TWW that I'm pretty sure pregnancy is not happening.

Has anyone dealt with this before? She sent me out with a prescription for Femara, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be considering. My appointments with her are always lightning fast, and they make my head spin.
