@pmrlady: Totally normal and what helps for me is taking some additional magnesium. I take 300mg a day split into two portions of 150mg in the morning and at night. You might want to check it with your midwives or OB though.

Yep Braxton hicks. If you get a lot of them lay down and drink water. Ask your doc about when to call if they don't go away (my doc says 6 an hour but I'm a second time mom).

Yep if it's bothersome just try to drink water and change position, lay down, anything like that to relieve the discomfort. It really does help.

Thank you all for the reassurance. It is definitely a strange feeling but as long as it's normal I'm not gonna worry about it.

Glad you posted this!! I'm 22+2 and just had this last night. It was really mild, but a really weird feeling. Glad I'm not the only one!

Sounds just like the BH I had with my first pregnancy, although mine were sometimes painful. I'm 20 weeks now and just started getting them with #2.

I have a similar feeling for the past two days. The lower part of my stomach will be hard and everything feels tight and uncomfortable. No fun. I am 26 weeks. I am also hoping my OB can give me some reassurance at my appointment this week.,..

I kinda feel that lately also and I'm 26 weeks so I assumed its as something like BH! It's like in between tightening and cramps.

Sounds like BH to me! Sometimes, baby would move at the same time, so it feels like the contractions are lopsided. I'd mention it of it's worrying you, but I'm pretty sure that's all it is!

Your uterus is probably about the height of your belly button or just above at the moment so any tightening lower than that is probably bh.
At 36 weeks I still sometimes struggle to tell the difference between bh and baby sticking his/her bum out!

That sounds like BH. I had them A LOT through both pregnancies. As lo g as there's no sharp pain associated w/ them, you're fine.

Hello everyone,

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and for the past 2 weeks I've had these sensations as if my uterus is getting really tight and hard. It's not painful at all and goes away after a few minutes. I'm assuming that it might be BH. But sometimes it feels like it's only the bottom portion that gets tight or only one side and not the other. Is that also BH or is that the baby moving?

Anyone else experience this? I have my doctors appointment next week and will definitely bring it up with her.

Thanks.
