@ShootingStar: Same! ALL of my childhood baths were bubble baths & my first UTI wasn't until my honeymoon (ouch!).

@birdofafeather: Sadie has gotten a bubble bath every other night since she was probably 6 months, and no UTI's. No problems with her lady bits at all, actually. We don't use Honest either. We either pour some of her hair & body wash in or the legit bubble bath (like Mr. Bubbles) if we have it (she got some for her birthday). She loves the bubbles! I wouldn't worry.

I just read this online last night! DS hasn't had a bubble bath in a few weeks (He used to love them but suddenly… NO BUBBLES!) Last night after bath he complained that he was hurting… Not sure whether or not to take him seriously but I googled UTI and saw this info. I never knew before!

I think every single bath I took as a kid was a bubble bath. My mom would squirt some ivory soap in every time, and I never got a UTI until I was an adult.

Growing up I was never allowed to 'soak' in a bubble bath, because of UTI risk. But, that was with perfume-y soaps, not the great natural stuff you can get now. So I don't know!

@ms.janedoe: that's kinda how i feel about it? BUT LO has not had a UTI prior and I feel like the ingredients in this particular bubble bath are safe... who knows?! i just have read anecdotal evidence and all the links I found said that studies have found no causal effect.

So how does it work for giving babe a "normal" bath, I use soap and ultimately it all ends up in the water anyway...like a bubble bath. Is this bad, too? :/

@shopaholic: I just googled and admittedly only looked at the first link (and babycenter message boards at that) (i'm so bone weary tired) - it said high heat can affect their bodies differently than ours but didn't elaborate. so that person could have been telling truth or elaborating lol. either way, we'll keep her out of them for a long time..they also are (public ones, IMO) germy!

@sorrycharlie: Ah! That makes sense - along with the high heat in general. But man, I've been jonesing to go to the hot tub and can't because what would we do with LO?

I never do bubble baths for LO for fear of UTIs. I got a few when I was little from them. Certainly never needed a catheter though! I think the idea is that sitting in the soap is irritating and can get caught up in the urinary tract and cause infection. I would think if baths are short and you rinse her after it's probably ok.

I have heard this about bubble baths..growing up I wasn't allowed to have one often!

@shopaholic: I've heard the hot tub thing is bad for developing reproductive systems because of the high heat! no idea if that's fact. I remember being young and visiting my grandparents at a hotel, and the hotel worker in the pool area told me I was not allowed to go in. When my grandmother asked why, she explained that the high heat wasn't good for developing bodies/children..I forget the gist. They got to talking. lol.

I've heard about UTIs and bubble baths. One person I know stopped doing them and their daughter stopped getting UTIs...they did not believe their pediatrician's advice at first. My neighbor's girl gets UTIs too and she also takes bubble baths and I told them about my friend. No one else I know has LOs that get UTIs

I think I vaguely heard of this when I was younger, and also about hot tubs. But we have given K bubble baths with the Honest shampoo and body wash (seriously the best bubbles!) I never really thought about UTIs, but I use the removable shower head and rinse her off standing up all over.

I haven't heard about bubblebaths causing UTIs, however where she gets the idea that you treat a UTI with a catheter god knows! Maybe it is different in the US but ALL my training says that you do not introduce catheters to someone with a UTI therefore this smacks a little of scare monggering to me. I hope your DD enjoys her bubble bath

I just picked up some honest bubble bath for DD. the ingredients all look good and it has added to bathtime fun! i posted a photo on IG and FB and an acquaintance of mine who is a pediatric nurse messaged me with this long thing about bubble baths and them causing UTIs and how DD would need a catheter.... I wrote her back and said, thanks for the info and heads up! but was annoyed and interested at the same time. after some googling, it seems like there is not scientific evidence that bubble baths cause UTIs, but it can irritate their genitals. my non-scientific mama-gut says that the coconut oil, aloe, etc in the honest co bubble bath isn't irritating her (haven't noticed anything yet) but i will rinse her off well afterward just in case.

just wondering if anyone else had heard info about this either way?
