@tequiero21: Once I have meds, I'll relax. I just wasn't anticipating that OTC test to be positive. I mean, we saw the heartbeat, baby's fine, just not the bladder near it!

@cascadecherub: good luck with everything! don't stress! i think stress is more harmful than the uti! (i don't know, i'm not a doctor lol)

@tequiero21: I haven't had my 8 week appointment yet. I went in on Wednesday with some spotting. They did a trans vag of the baby. It's got a heartbeat which is good. I just don't know how long I've had this UTI. I want it treated to protect my baby to be. What's crazy is that I'm drinking tons of water to begin with, so things are being flushed from my system regularly. I just want a healthy growing baby.

we did/do UTI tests at every appointment - i'm surprised they haven't tested for it.

My mom had multiple UTI's when she was preggo with me and my sister- like one or two every month of pregnancy. There are most definitely ways to clear them up while pregnant.

@Rock n Roll: I think there are other pregnancy safe antibiotics that you can take - I took ammoxacillin for my supposed UTI (even though I always take macrobid whenever I get a UTI - I used to get them in college...)

I got one at the beginning of my first pregnancy and this one. I had lots of symptoms and knew immediately. Took macrobid and it was gone in a few days. But those are the only UTIs I've ever had, and they never recurred during pregnancy.

I know they want you to get treated ASAP to prevent you from getting a kidney infection, which is a much more serious risk during pregnancy, but I also know you can't take macrobid late in pregnancy, so I'm not sure what they do if you have them later. (Obviously not an issue for you, but I know you asked about it above.) Maybe someone has had a late pregnancy one who can shed some light on it.

I supposedly had one in early pregnancy, but had no symptoms. We suspected that I had bacteria in my urine because I didn't do my urine catch correctly, but they put me on a 10 day course of antibiotics anyways. If you do suspect one, get in to see your doctor. It's not going to harm your baby unless it goes untreated.

@chopsuey119: I really don't have pain, but urine looked off. It was my first tip off. It's darker and a little cloudy. I did one of those OTC tests which looks pretty positive. I'm hoping that this is the only one of the pregnancy. Since I saw the heartbeat, I'm hoping that baby's a-okay in there despite this. I just want my doctor to call me back!!

I had a UTI right before I got pregnant. It was my first an only. Usually UTIs need to be treated with meds, no? All I remember is having some bleeding and lots of pain when I went pee. Terrible.
Hope it gets taken care of soon! and Hope your little baby grows healthy too!

So, I'm only 7 weeks pregnant. I saw the heartbeat the other day when I had a spot of blood. I've suspected that I have a UTI for awhile. It wasn't addressed on Wednesday when I saw the heartbeat. I'm hoping that everything's okay with the baby. I just want to clear this up and have my little watermelon seed grow into a beautiful baby. I'm not sure if my nausea is baby or UTI related at this point either!

I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back, so I can do something about this. I want to email her the picture of the test even to prove that I'm not crazy!!

How many of you have gotten UTIs while pregnant? Were they early on or later? Were they recurrent throughout the pregnancy?
