We also live in an area with one of the largest vet populations, so I can only imagine the wait there. He is appealing his discharge to be retired instead, which would make him eligible for Tricare. It was always a huge long wait and most of the time they just gave him 600mg ibuprofen and the big Tylenols and told him to wait it out. He called yesterday because he had been sick since Sunday (so four days) and couldn't get a hold of anyone. Then he sent his a PCP an online message, and was told that if he was still sick on Monday to call back. He is fairly sure he has pnuemonia (he has had it before) so he called the VA back. They told him his PCP isn't in until Monday, so he can't be seen. Not "here is this other doctor" or "try this other VA center". Ugh. I am so frustrated with the VA right now. If this the VA after they went through a shakeup, I can see how people died waiting for appointments in the past. </p>
