We've traveled a few times and I have left a typed daily schedule and meal suggestions for the 3 main meals and 2 snacks (LO doesn't eat dairy or soy). I make sure all the foods are stocked for my suggested menu, and we leave the insurance card, our Pedi's number and address, and a medical release giving our parents permission to treat LO--we also showed our parents where we keep LOs SS card and birth certificate should they need it.

We found a medical release form on the internet and printed and signed it.

Dropping off LO tonight for our own vacay! We've left her with this family before and have no worries. They keep a good stock of stuff at their house so I'm just sending the basics like clothes, toothbrush, and simple over the counter meds if she needs them.

I don't really leave a schedule with them since this is her summer vacay too and I want them to have fun and enjoy themselves. She's 2.5, though, so sticking to a strict schedule isn't as paramount as it was when she was younger. I do want her to try to go to bed at a reasonable hour, though, so she doesn't have trouble once she gets back in a week.

Honestly, it'll be fine if your family doesn't follow your routine precisely. Make sure there is enough food to eat, and that they know how to handle emergencies, and don't sweat the small stuff!

We just did this in March. We got a letter from our attorney giving my parents the right to make medical decisions. I figured with us being out of the country if something happened I wanted them to make decisions till they could get a hold of us. We also left the insurance card.

I left the pedi's number, the address of the closest hospital. Along with the dosage for Motrin and Tylenol, where the thermometer was, etc. Then left suggestions for meals and snacks. Also included what time she normal has meals, snacks, nap, and bedtime. I included addresses of parks and other activities they could take her too. We left $ for eating out or misc things. I made sure to stock the fridge for LO and my parents (beer for them too!).

I'm a planner so I typed up a "loose" daily schedule, diet stuff (we dealt with allergies), medicine schedule times, along with all phone numbers. I also left the insurance card in case they would have a ER visit. I left cash for emergencies as well.

My husband and I are going on an anniversary trip out of the country without our children for a few days. We have family that is coming to our house to watch our children and I'm trying to think of all of the things that our family would need to know about our daily routine. Besides the obvious time schedule and a list of what they eat I'm trying to also think of things in the event of an emergency such as peds phone number.

What tips can you share with this mama going away for the first time without kids so that we can relax and enjoy ourselves?
