@Foodnerd81: she's just discovered her feet! She also wants to put her hands down there at every diaper change. Makes life interesting!

There was another pin I saw where the lo finger painted and then the art was cut in the shape of a heart. edit: haha, whoops, just saw that this was posted above ;)

@lawbee11: no, DH had the paint from when my stepkids were little. He has hoarder tendencies, but in this case it came in handy ;).

@rattles: copy away!

Sadie won't sit still long enough for hand/foot prints, so I think we'll just paint and then cut it into a heart. I just use regular nontoxic acrylic paint. My favorite is the Apple Barrel paints... I get them at Walmart, but you can find them at any craft store too. We've painted several times, she's always eaten some, and she's always been fine.

@StrawberryBee: Cute! And so smart doing it with the tray on so she couldn't grab at her toes. C's toes are currently her favorite play thing-- we laugh because as soon as we put her on the changing table it's like they are spring loaded to go into her mouth, so she's just baring her butt right to us.

Maybe I'll try that (though, we only have a high chair so it will be harder to get under there) then let her go to town actually finger painting. I'm going to try the flour/cornstarch and water one in the DIY section here.

*sneaking away from PnP* please please please nap a while...

Okay, so yesterday E and I went to Target. The brown paper with the gold arrows and heart was actually a wine gift bag, which when trimmed top and bottom was the perfect size for the 5x7 frame. Before cutting it I stripped E down to a disposable diaper (didn't want to get paint on the cloth ;)) and sat her in her activity seat with the tray on so she couldn't play with her toes or put them in her mouth. I put non toxic finger paint on her feet by spreading out a thin layer on a piece of spare cardboard and pressing it onto her foot, then pressing her foot onto the gift bag. The paint easily wiped away with a damp paper towel, and I washed her off further in the sink.

I wish it was a bit darker (the finger paint wasn't very thick) but I still love it. I want to put something in the bottom section under her footprints. Either the event and year, or "for Daddy", or her age, or something. Maybe this saying:

From the bottom of my heart to the tips of my toes, I love you!

LO will be 6 months on Valentine's Day and I was also thinking of doing some cornstarch fingerprinting, then cutting hearts from his paintings for Valentines for family.

The baby feet hearts are also on my list - I'm thinking that baby feet in paint would be more manageable than baby hand in paint. :P These are some of my favored of the crafts I saw made, but there's tons!

@redsmarties: I'm planning to put a big towel down, then cardboard, strip down to her diaper, and cross my fingers. Buts she's not mobile so it can't get too bad.

I hope.

I really want to do the footprint heart with LO, but am terrified of the mess (wiggly, squirmy baby + paint?)
Maybe I'll wait until she's napping and just sneak-attack her feet with paint.

Anyone doing any fun valentines day crafts with their babies? Or did your LOs come home with anything fun from daycare?

I'm thinking about doing some finger paints with C (6 months) but want to make sure they are edible. I've seen the yogurt ones but I think they will smell after they dry and I'd like to keep her first masterpiece!
