@Mrs. Taco: I think that's totally different though! If you are standing all say what you probably need is sitting with your feet elevated. Or maybe the walking is good for getting blood circulating?

@Pancakes: @jedeve: I'll definitely keep this thread updated. It's crazy you both mention frequent walks as a tactic to help because I walk ALL day long. I'm a teacher and I rarely sit at my desk with the exception of 30 mins of planning. Once I get home I'm taking care of LO and if I'm lucky, I get an hour to sit before it's bed time...never heard of the berry juice but I'll look into it!

I've been getting them this pregnancy. Just a few smaller ends in my legs, but man my legs really ache all over, which makes me think I have some circulation problems in veins that aren't near the surface?

I really find elevating my legs and short walks help a lot. I read berry juice also is good. I bought some but haven't tried it yet.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I hope you'll update whenever you see a PCP.

I developed varicose veins in my right leg during my first pregnancy; mine bother me from my knee all the way up to my pelvic bone. They have bothered me off an on in the 3 years since I had my LO, but my PCP advised me not to do anything about them because he said closing one vein off would just put more pressure on the remaining veins.

Now that I'm 22 weeks pregnant with #2, I've been wearing thigh-high compression stockings as much as possible but it's going to get harder as the summer goes on, I think. I've also been trying to make sure I take frequent walks to help my circulation.

I hope more people chime in, I feel like I don't hear much about this at all.

@Mrs. M: Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm going to find a PCP tomorrow. I really need to take care of myself with this.

Hopefully you can get some relief soon after LO #2 is born, until then, I feel your pain...literally!

Sorry you are dealing with this issue! I have horrible varicose veins that started appearing in my late teens. Both of my parents have them and the doctor told me it was most likely heredity. I had laser surgery on one leg about 5 years ago. My primary care doctor referred me to a vascular surgeon. I had a great experience and the surgery was covered by my insurance since they could prove there was a medical need. The results were awesome, but the issue has come back due to pregnancy (which the doctor warned me about). I am currently on my second pregnancy and they are now horrible in both legs again. I plan on getting the surgery done again after I lose some baby weight and my life isn't so hectic with two little ones.

I know it is painful so I hope you get some relief soon!

@swedishfish: Yeah, I need to just find a PCP first haha I've looked into it on Google and it seems like a lot of the places are more for the cosmetic side, offer "special 2/1 removal" and what not. I couldn't care less about the appearance, I'm worried about the pain!

Why can't I just go to my OB for everything? :silly:

I'd think a PCP can guide you or a dermatologist....or a vascular surgeon?

Does anyone have any experience with severe varicose veins? I have one that runs from my ankle up to the top of my thigh and ever since pregnancy, the pain has gotten continuously worse.

Throughout the day, it is a dull aching pain but the moment I sit down and try to relax, I notice how much it hurts. The worst is at night. Despite wear a long compression stocking, I have to lay on that leg to put pressure on it and keep it fully extended to help with the pain.

I know this can't be normal, right? It also seems to be getting continuously worse and I don't know why? Anyone have experience with this. I want to go to the doctor but which one? I don't even have a primary care physician.

Blah. I'm 25, isn't this something 80 yr olds deal with?! :bummed:
