Maybe not the same circumstances, but I was slow progressing - 20 hours to go from 4 to 10 cm, then pushed for an hour and she just wasn't coming down ,so I had a c-section. Now I'm pregnant with #2 and my new doctor thinks I'm a good candidate for VBAC. He also thinks maybe they were too quick to do the c-section with #1, but honestly I hadn't slept in 4 days because of prodromal contractions so by that time I was ready to just have it be done.

Only had one baby, but she was a c section due to failure to progress. But I did get to an 8, she just got stuck in my pelvis because she was sunny side up and tilted. My midwife told me I'm an excellent candidate for VBAC.. but I don't know if that is because I dilated to an 8 or because they consider the positioning/getting stuck to be a fluke. If you're interested in VBAC maybe get a second (third?) opinion from a doc that specializes in VBACs? I think some docs are just not fans generally.

I had a C-section with my DS1 because of failure to progress. Like you, I labored for about 14 or 15 hours, 6 hours with Pitocin and never got past 4 cm. The doctor who delivered me said I had a small pelvis and that I was a poor candidate for a VBAC. I switched to a VBAC friendly practice and successfully delivered vaginally with DS2. They did have to augment the labor with Pitocin and it was a 24 hour labor, but I'm glad I stuck with my decision! I'm definitely not against C-sections, but for me recovery was so much easier the second time around.

Also curious! I got a c-section after 20hrs of labor when I stopped dilating at 7cm (I was at 7cm for over 6 hours) so I am curious about vbac! I will probably follow my gut next time

4 centimeters after 4 hours of labor doesn't sound that crazy to me...I had an emergency c-section with my first due to his heart rate dropping, but it took me almost 20 hours to get to 4cm. I got an epidural shortly after that and shot up to 8cm in just an hour. I know that generally failure to progress means you're less likely to have a successful VBAC (no reason you can't try, though!) but I guess 14 hours just seems like not very long to deem it failure to progress.

I had failure to progress due to pelvis shape and LO was super wedged at a diagonal and didn't have enough room to straighten out. When I had my c-section they had to make an additional incision on one side to get her out. My doctors said I'm definitely not a candidate for a vbac.

Not sure but I'm in the exact same boat. 4 centimeters after 14 hours of labor. I haven't talked to my doctor (LO #2 is a ways off) but I'm wondering if I could try for VBAC too.

I made it to the point of pushing, but due to a small pelvis baby got stuck and went into distress causing my c-section. I to was told I was not a good candidate for VBAC and I've decided I'm just fine with that.

I've only had 1 friend try for a VBAC and it failed again and she ended up with a C-section, hers was due to failure to progress. Only one I know though, so I'm sure it's possible, she wouldn't' even contract on her own, she was very extreme.

Not me, but I have a friend who just had a successful VBAC after failure to progress with her first. It was totally different this time - it all went so fast, she barely made it to the hospital.

I had no problem progressing but needed a c-section because my son got stuck in my pelvis. I'm now pregnant with #2 and I've been told I'm not a good candidate for a VBAC because the first one got stuck

Did any of you ladies have a VBAC after failure to progress? With my LO, I had 14 hours of labour and never dilated past 4 and had a c section. My experience was absolutely fine and if we have another, a RCS definitely wouldn't be an issue for me, but I guess I would still like to know my options.
I have had two OB's in the intervening time, and both advised that I wasn't a good candidate for VBAC due to the failure to progress and also, I apparently have a weird shaped pelvis which would also make it harder for have a VBAC.
So just wondering, if any of you ladies had failure to progress and went on to have a VBAC.
