Although not a true "green" smoothie I can put several handfuls of baby spinach in a smoothie with bananas, blueberry, yogurt etc and it doesn't affect the taste at all :) DS1 loooves smoothies, and I often freeze the leftovers in a popsicle mold, which is also a big hit. I've been meaning to try adding steamed carrots as well.

DD won't eat vegetables. They have to be chopped up finely and covered in pasta sauce, or completely disguised in food. It makes me sad. I really hope I can get her to eat an actual vegetable sometime soon!

we do green smoothies with kale or spinach.

tonight i finally got charlie to eat sweet potato after he has refused to even taste it on numerous occasions. i had to bribe him then he loved it! i just baked it with butter and a little bit of salt and pepper.

the only other two vegetables the kids will eat are asparagus sauteed in butter with salt and pepper, and broccoli sauteed with garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

@yoursilverlining: Ooh, do you have the recipe for the broccoli cheddar bites? I've tried roasting veggies and putting cheese on top but no dice. It's almost like if she sees veggies in whole form, she won't even try them.

@hilsy85: I've been thinking about making something like that! We tried Dr. Praeger's spinach littles and she hated them so I've been hesitant to put in the effort to make a whole batch of something only to have her reject it. I'm lazy…

@autumnlove: @locavore_mama: I forgot about smoothies! She drinks one every morning. I'm going to throw some spinach in it tomorrow.

@Mrs. Confetti: Clever, very clever

@jodyblair: I tried hummus a couple of months ago and she didn't like it but maybe I'll try again.

Will she eat veggies dipped in hummus? I also like to put diced veggies in lasagna (red peppers, eggplant, zucchini, squash, spinach).

One thing that we've been doing (for our almost 19 month old) that makes the veggies much sweeter without any sugar--especially carrots. Carrots cut up into small pieces with olive oil and roasted are so, so good.

Also, she really likes some things frozen--like Trader Joe's frozen asparagus, straight out of the bag.

our best luck comes from omitting them from C's plate, but us having them and making a big deal of how much we like them and that they are just for us, and then casually saying, "oh, C do you want a bite?" if daddy's eating it, he wants it. it is seriously magic. he ate sauerkraut earlier this week with that trick (ew - even for me - and I almost had a heart attack).

Have you tried putting "toppings" on veggies: butter, parmesan cheese, pasta sauce, mild salsa, hummus?

Trying new veggies like asparagus (wave them around to make LO laugh), red pepper sticks, etc.?

I add pureed veggies to pasta sauce so LO gets plenty of veggies even if all she will eat is pasta with sauce!

I've also made broccoli/cheddar bites that LO ate up.

At 19 months, LO has decided to assert her independence and no longer eats veggies. She will only eat avocado, corn, and peas. Does anyone have any recipes they'd like to share?

Soup used to be a good way to get her to eat veggies but she is going through an anti-soup phase too!
