@DesertDreams88: They are called Happy Tots, and they are in the baby aisle at Whole Foods. Maybe like $4 for 5 packets? Here is a link from Buy Buy Baby of all places. Not the best, but better than him eating plain crackers.

You can buy steam veggie bags for the microwave that are easy or quicker cooking frozen broccoli, I guess it has been partially cooked. My 18 month old really enjoys coloured peppers, peas, corn, and broccoli. I actually have to hide peas and corn and give it to her near the end of the meal if I want her to eat anything besides that veggie. She already eats so little hat it almost seems wasted for it to just be a bunch of peas or a bunch of corn only. :(

I thinly slice cucumber with the skin on now and carrots and celery and have done that for at least two months. She has pretty much all her teeth though so it is dependent on how well you think your kid can eat/ how many teeth they have.

Nothing new to add, but just chiming in with another vote for pepper strips, sugar snap peas, tomatoes of any kind, and peeled cucumbers. We also would steam broccoli and give that to DD and she loved it.

Just remembered that we also do frozen and freeze dried edamame too.

And I was just thinking - I haven't done celery because he hates strings and I tried it one time and he gagged. But I wonder if I sliced it thinly like when it's in a salad or stir fry if he'd eat it then.

My 21-month-old can handle raw veggies a lot better than I thought she would be able to! She likes carrots sticks and LOVES cucumbers. A word of caution though, some cucumber skins are really hard for her to chew and she's gagged on them. So unless it's a baby cucumber with really thin skin I always peel the cucumbers for her. Also, my kids will eat just about anything if they get to dip it in ranch - that's another way to get veggies in!

@DesertDreams88: For frozen veggies, I cook the whole bag and then portion the veggies out into ice cube trays. After I've filled the partitions with veggies, I fill the tray with water so you end up with veggie filled ice cubes. Then I can just pop out a cube or two, stick it in the microwave for a minute, drain the water and I have a good portion size for DD.
DS ate pouches until he was like 2.5 though.

We started giving her some of our own veggie snacks at that age (raw carrots and bell peppers). We just cut them up extremely thin. Great age to introduce veggies as snacks! My 3.5 year old still eats them most days of the week (literally she will only eat veggies raw or in shake form right now so these snacks are most of her veggie consumption).

My 20 month old loves grated carrots. You can buy them already grated, or you could grate them yourself. She also likes raw baby carrots, but she struggles with them if they're too thick. If I have to cut them up anyway, I might as well do grated. :)

She also loves cherry tomatoes. She likes the frozen bags of mixed veggies too, but I always microwave them first. I haven't tried frozen, mostly because I hate them if they aren't thawed out yet.

We haven't tried celery, cucumbers, or bell peppers, but those are good suggestions that I'll have to try. They sound like things she would enjoy.

@DesertDreams88: DD eats frozen peas all the time. I don't even defrost them and she loves them. I also give her sugar snap peas, carrots cut into matchsticks or really thin "chips," and lightly steamed green beans. Although the only thing I can get her to eat a lot of are the frozen peas and sugar snap peas. She'll usually eat A carrot or A bean...

I could easily do the frozen bags of veggies mix (corn, peas, carrots). This sounds stupid, but I didnt know it was safe? The bags say in big bold all caps to not thaw or eat raw..... I guess it's not as big a deal as meat or dairy but it still feels weird?

But thank you for all the suggestions!

At that age I still did cooked veggies so they would be soft. He really liked peas, zucchini, green beans, and carrots the best around 15-18 months. I just always kept a small portion leftover from meals to give him. I use a lot of the frozen steamer packs for convenience and occasionally canned veggies too.

LO is 17 months and she has been eating carrot sticks and celery since last summer (well, more gnawing on the celery). She also loves cucumbers, small tomatoes, frozen peas, edamame (favorite! - we get fresh or frozen at Trader Joe's), and the previously mentioned Harvest Snaps (we get them at Sam's).

I did baby carrots cut lengthwise into quarters so it was thin strips, or I lightly steamed baby carrots and cut them into coins and he would eat those cold. I cut corn on the cob into 1/2 inch thick wheels and steamed them and he would gnaw on them cold. Sugar snap peas if you pull the strings off are crunchy and sweet to gnaw on. Cucumber spears. Frozen peas right out of the freezer. I make sweet potato fries where I cut them into sticks, toss them in coconut oil and cinnamon and bake them. You can do the same with butternut squash. My 11 month old will eat them cold out of the fridge. Baby corn out of the can some kids like.

Following for ideas, my DS 20 months is pretty picky and doesn't eat many veggies. I don't feel comfortable giving him baby carrots or carrot sticks yet - he might be fine with them, but I dunno. He will sometimes eat canned green beans straight out of the can. Not the healthiest but better than no veggie! I think he likes them because they are soft.

This might seems like a dumb question, but I need suggestions for veggie snacks for young toddlers (16m-age 2ish?).... bonus points if they're shelf stable, more bonus points if they are low prep.

I think 16m is too young still for celery and baby carrots, right? Even cut into narrow strips, I think they're just too tough for my toddler to chew thoroughly.
