@MsLipGloss - Everything blurs together, LOL. My current and last 2 firms were all about 30 attorneys either. I'm in our smallest office now and it's just 3 attorneys (me, boss/partner, jr. partner). Both are mom's with 2 kids and totally "get it" - my last 2 bosses were male and clueless (wives didn't work, etc.). I just started here in February. It was basically change jobs now or wait until after starting a family. I didn't think I could last at the old job that long. So, if all my billing gets in line, we're hoping to start trying at the end of the year so I'll be at/past the one year mark when I tell them.

@LindsayInNYC: I'm pretty sure we haven't. Your mention of crying in your office (I have so been there) inspired me to see if you listed your profession in your profile. :) I am actually at a larger firm than I was before, but the atmosphere is so much more positive and professional all the way around, and it is definitely a family-friendly firm. I don't think I would have been able to get pregnant if I were still working at my old firm, as a consequence of too much emotional stress--the work was fine, but the environment was absolutely toxic.

@MsLipGloss - I can't remember if we've had the attorney talk before or not =/ I've usually liked my co-workers but not the overall firm slash firm atmosphere. I'm in a smaller office of a medium firm so there are less people but I still like them all. And they're family friendly which will be HUGE when we start TTC.

@LindsayInNYC: Ditto - this is the first time in my career (as an attorney) that I have ever liked my firm and the people I work with. If I wasn't working here, I would not have considered coming back to work after maternity leave.

I've been there... Far too many times too.

This is the first time in a *long* time where I've actually liked my job. I haven't gone home in tears - or sat in my office in tears! (knock on wood)

I am soooo sorry!

I am in a similar position. I'm not working the crazy hours that you are, nor am I pregnant. But I just started a new job, and I left a dead end job (no advancements) and it is crazy here! I'm in my 4th week, but I still feel like I'm a chicken with my head cut off!

@MamaMoose: it's a small office -only about 50 or so -- no HR really, and the people that hired me are my direct bosses, the ones who are causing issues actually. The job is semi - what I expected and not... It's advertising, so it's crazy, but the crazy I am dealing with is avoidable. They are way understaffed and it's crazy.

@mrs. wagon: I know!! I am worried that I have been so stressed/upset - it can't be good for the baby -- I feel like I was sorta crampy-ish today and I felt like it was the baby feeling my agitation ;(

@artbee: Oh man - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and tough month... Things have to turn around, I think you have used up all of your 'bad things' for the month! Let's hope!

Thanks for listening ladies....

Oh no, sorry you're stuck there! Hope it gets better for you.

I'm also having a crappy week :( Well more like a crappy couple of months. Within the past two months, I've had surgery and wasn't able to pick up LO for 6 weeks, DH had surgery and his recovery is going slower than we thought, my MIL found out she had breast cancer and had surgery and radiation, and my grandma who I'm very close to passed away last night. Ready for this year to be over already!

oh no :( that really sucks. The last thing you want to be stressing about at 17 weeks pregnant!!! :( So sorry you're going through it. Maybe you can speak with your new supervisor and talk about your concerns? I'm sure it would be horrible for them to lose you so quickly as well. Is there anyone in HR you could talk to?

Is the job very different from how it was presented to you when you interviewed? If so I think you should definitely speak to your hiring manager about it!

UGH.

I just had to get this out. I am having the WORST day, which is a part of what is turning into the worst week. Yes, I'm still working, it's 8:25 -- and I was working until 10:15 last night.

The part that freaks me out - I'm in my 5th week of my new job and I keep thinking about quitting -- or, better yet, I think about taking my maternity leave & never returning...

They know I'm PG - i told them before the hired me to be totally honest with them, and I of course said I would stay -- but I am really not happy with this new work situation.... I left a bad work environment that was a dead end (been there 5 years no promotion, barely a raise - and the hours were tough there also) -- but my old job is seeming like a dream compared to this.

I'm so pissed at myself for getting into this situation - I'm 17 weeks pregnant, and am stuck here until at least my maternity leave is over...

anyone else having a sh*t week?
