Uhh I hate this. And family is worst because they feel like they can say whatever they want. We were home for my husband's aunt's funeral and his whole family kept talking about how small I was and how I didn't even look pregnant and then proceeded to spend the whole week trying to force food down my throat. Listen people, if you are so worried about the health of my baby instead of force feeding me how about you stop smoking RIGHT NEXT to me!

Some people don't realize that we are all different, we carry different and of course even if you two are close on due date you are going to look different. Don't let that get to you, as long as you know that your size is good according to your type of body you should feel good!! People keep asking me if I'm only having one because another friend is pregnant and I look bigger than she does, at first it bothered me. But I am 5 11" hubs is 6 2" so I don't think we'll have a tiny baby =]

OMG I have SO delt with this and it sucks. I have a friend who is two weeks ahead of me and smaller. She is carrying small. Both of us are healthy and normal but people can be such assholes. I am sorry. All i can say is look at the bump love thread. bumps of all shapes and sizes at all times. Height doesnt make much different but i have heard torso length can and ya know what we are just all different. Some people have more fluid, their babies situate differently, their bodies put on weight differently, they retain more water or have bigger or smaller uterus. It's just all such hogwash. to say anything is Abnormal or assume anyone will have a big or small baby. Even the docs and the ultrasounds getting it wrong alot of the time. Take heart and know you are right where you should be.

Ugh. I can't stand people! They just don't think. I'm like your cousin in that I have a long torso and I'm tall, so I'm consistently measuring small (they actually scheduled a growth scan last week because they were worried). Turns out she's fine, but I'm just carrying her "close" because of height. But that doesn't stop people (who have never been pregnant!!!) from telling me I need to eat more, that I'm starving her, she's going to be too small because I'm worried about my weight (?!?). It's so hurtful. I just ignore people if possible, and if I'm feelin particularly annoyed I'll say something to them. "my doctor says things are just fine but thanks." usually shuts them up - no one seems to expect us (pregnant people) to have a retort!

I kept a smile on my face and informed them that I am measuring right on at my appointments and that usually backed them off a little. I'm not short by any means (5'8'') but I jsut have a shorter torso so my belly sticks out more I think :) I love looking pregnant so I just have to keep that thought in mind!

@looch: This sounds like a GREAT idea...I think a mani/pedi for my shower next week is perfect way to forget!

So sorry, people are very insensitive!! I am 5'2" and my MIL is 5'10" and she always told me I looked HUGE and something must be wrong with me or baby. According to her, she wasn't even showing at 9 months pregnant with her 3rd child...uh huh!

Go and treat yourself to something that makes you feel pretty, like a mani pedi or a piece of jewelery. You'll forget about those comments, or at least I would!

people dont realize how insensitive their comments can be. You and I both know that every woman carries a pregnancy differently. I have a super long torso so I carried one way. My firend is very shor torsoed so she carried another. I wouldnt worry about it. I KNOW its hard to not let it get to you, but if you and your doctor are not concerned about any weight gain or how you are carrying, thats what mattiers

We had DH's grandmother's funeral yesterday and of course most of his very large family haven't seen me "look" pregnant.

His cousin and I are 3 weeks apart, she is very tall so her weight spreads through her long torso making her appear to have the cute little bump, while I look to have a huge bump.

Several people were comparing us since we are so close in due date, and of course I felt like the tub-o-lub of the two. Anyone else have this problem? I tried not to let it get to me, but emotions are running high over here these days! I have only gained 15 lbs so far, so I was feeling good until yesterday.
