I was on BC on/off for about ten years before we started TTC. I went off BC in Oct, we weren't actively trying while we waited for my cycles to regulate. I found out that I had long cycles (36 days average), it took us 3 active cycles to conceive our DS. This time around, AF came back at 4.5 months post partum even through breastfeeding. I never went back on BC, we just kind of watched timing each month (or practiced abstinence :P).

We had a + on cycle 2 of active ttc, but that ended in an early loss. I got pregnant again on cycle 4 and I'm not 14.5 weeks along.

I def recommend an app like Fertility Friend especially in the first few months of coming off the pill!

Good luck to you! :goodluck:

Thank you everyone. I have been using the app Glow to keep track of things. But I know Ill be better able to do that after my first period comes while off the pill. I have also heard of the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" I plan on purchasing it soon.

Thanks for posting this question. I was about to do the same. I'm new to TTC and have been on the BCP for about 14yrs. I stopped my BC at the end of Nov 2014 and my cycle has been normal since (first starting Dec 2 for 6 days second started Jan 2 for 6 days, just like it would have been while on BC). I'm hoping it happens soon but I think it will take a few months just for my cycle to come to terms that i'm no longer on BC. Good Luck TTC :)

Hi, no advice sorry but just wanted to say I'm new to ttc and to these boards. I too just recently came off bcp, about a month ago, was on it for about 5 years. have only actively started ttc this month ( which I shoildnt be as I have a laparoscopy due next week, oops, but I didn't know)... My cycles have already pretty much gone back to normal, am averaging 26 days, I also just started using opk and got my first ever smiley face on a cb digital and a positive on a cheapie.

My friend got pregnant 3 months after coming off bcp and she was 37 at the time. She had fibroids. So if she can fall preg I think we have a good chance. I believe she was on bcp for many years.

I wish u all the success in getting your bfp :)

@Mrs.LaFountain: I also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and did cycle charting. You can get free chart print outs on their website.

I had been on birth control for at least 10 years. I went off it for a few months and charted my cycles before we started TTC. Once we actually started TTC it took 6 months total (including one miscarriage) before I was pregnant with my son, I was 31/32 at the time.

My favorite resource for those new to TTC: http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com
Cheap and awesome preg and ovulation test strips!

I took birth control pills for about 13-14 years before TTC. I got off the pill, waited about 3 cycles, and then went for it. We got pregnant the 1st cycle we actively tried. With our second, it was a similar situation. Got off the pill, NTNP for a couple of months, got pregnant first month we tried. I didn't have trouble with my cycles getting off the pill even after taking it so many years. I was 33 with my 1st and 35 with my second.

Everyone is different so I don't know how much of my personal situation would be relevant. That being said, going off BC is either easy or not so easy. I was in the not so easy camp with it taking a while to regulate my cycles after. The brown spotting could likely be because you stopped BC and your body is figuring out what to do.

It sounds like you need to determine what your cycles are like after getting off birth control. In the meantime, I would definitely suggest reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" as it's so, so helpful when TTC. I never read it when a TTC my first since I lucked out and got pregnant pretty much right away. But, I read it while trying for my second and I learned a ton.

Hello everyone. I'm very new to the TTCing game. I have been off birth control officially for almost two weeks. We have BDed twice now. Yesterday and today I have had slight cramping, and now some brownish discharge. Is it just my body adjusting to being off he pill? or something else?

Also if any of you ladies have TTCed after being on birth control how long did it take you to conceive? And how long where you on the pill before hand? I'm 28 soon to be 29 and was on the pill for about 10 years.

Thank you.
