It's a movement, sound, and video monitor and we loooove it. One of our best baby purchases. With a newborn, the movement monitor gave me so much peace of mind. Now that DD is older we don't use the sound function much, but the video is great! It has night vision and also monitors room temperature. We haven't used it much yet but it also has the talk-back feature. I like that it isn't connected to the internet, so no hacking. My only complaint is that there is no option to add a second unit since we are about to have our second baby. (We bought a spare for LO1 for traveling!) We've been really happy with it. It has a VOX mode where it shuts itself off if there is no noise or movement from the baby and turns on again when the baby cries or moves. Before I got pregnant I used to think they were so silly, but now we have had a few people who have them or want them tell us how valuable they are so we are seriously considering one. I would prefer one that has its own parent unit (and screen) instead of using your phone / iPad, etc. to connect. Or, I would like one where you have the option to use your parent unit and /or your mobile device. </p>
