@Beehive: Just looked it up and the app we have, which is very well-reviewed, is called Baby Monitor 3G.

We bring our Motorola with us and just prop the camera out of reach onto something. We haven't been on vacation with LO yet, but if we're staying overnight at my parents' house, we'll bring it.

If we forget any monitor, we'll use our phones as our monitors! We both have iPhones, so we can facetime, or since he's older, we just use the audio. We just put the phones on speaker and mute the one we have with us!

We bring our Motorola with us. It's a little bit of a PITA to set it up, and find the right spot for the camera, but after being SO used to having it, I would be a mess without it... haha

I've also taken the Motorola on our weekend trips when we have rooms with a door. Didn't take it on our Europe trip and cruise since we were in just one small room both places.

@Beehive: We brought our Motorola with us. Was perfect, and it barely took up any room.

We just went to the beach for a week and we brought the Motorola monitor. It wasn't very bulky to pack (although we were driving). I'm also addicted to being able to see DD, so I totally understand wanting to bring it!

We've brought our Motorola with us on 10+ trips this last year!!! We're going to Europe in a few weeks and likely wont bring it there though because it would require another converter.

We bring our summer infant monitor with us. We just have to position the pack and play so we can set up the camera somewhere.

I have a baby monitor app on my phone and on one of our ipads (the same app, One device acts as the camera and the other as the receiver). I haven't tried it yet, but it's rated pretty highly. I can't remember the name right now though and my phone is dead and ipad is plugged in in DD's room playing white noise. If I remember, I'll post it here tomorrow.

@Chopsuey: Thanks! I guess that is how people do it then. I'll just have to position the travel crib so we can put the camera somewhere that works! It's funny, I'm so hooked on video monitors that I don't even like not having one when I'm sleeping in the same room with LO... if it's dark, I can't see him!

Yep! I've taken my motorola (2 cams! one for each kid).

I've also taken the first video monitor we had back when DD was 4 months old.. a huge summer infant mini TV looking thing.

We're going abroad for a couple weeks and will be staying in suites with LO, and I would love to be able to see LO in his crib when we're in the living room area and he's in the bedroom. I think I've gotten too attached to having a video monitor at home! Has anyone used a video monitor on vacation? How/what? I can't picture bringing the Motorola with us, though I guess that's a possibility.
