I don't have two kids, but a caveat I wish I'd known about with two cameras is the pairing issue. Maybe this is just with the Samsung monitor? We've found that every time we want to switch cameras, it requires you to press a button on the bottom of the camera.

@yin: Great idea for using that second camera...I may end up doing that!

We only have 1 DS, but like users above, we have the Motorola video monitor. We bought a second camera because we like to travel with it, so we're planning on using that if/when we have LO#2. We definitely don't use it with DS (21 months) as nearly as we used to, but we still have it on every night and we'll just cycle back and forth between the two cameras in the future!

We have the Motorola monitor and bought the extra camera for LO #2. You can scan between both rooms or keep it on one or the other. You can use your 20% off BBB coupon for it also so it's not an awful price and we have been happy with it overall.

@yin - wish I realized this was an option before LO #1 was born. I may have leaned this way.

We use a foscam for both kids, and I monitor them on my phone, computer, and iPad. It's easy to use, and I can also access the cameras from my phone remotely when we're out on a date. It's relatively cheap - about $80-$90 per camera or cheaper if you can find it on NBD. I don't use it as often with my 3 year old because he doesn't like being "seen." I use it all the time with my 9 month old to see if he is up to some crazy antics in his crib. It also helps me gauge whether or not I need to go in and help him in the middle of the night. I didn't have a video monitor until LO1 was close to 2 years old, and I wish I had it from the beginning. Definitely worth the investment. I can later re-purpose the cameras for use in other parts of the house (ex. front door).

We have the summer infant video monitor. I didn't have it for DD, hers broke and the warranty I had through BRU got us the video, and then I bought an additional camera for DS.

I was very anti video monitor and stopped using DDs plain monitor around 9m with her.

Having video on both is hilarious and entertaining, but is great to have too. My ears hear them in their rooms before anything so we definitely don't even need monitors but they are great to have!

We have one parent unit that can go wireless with amazing range, and it rotates through both kids every 10 seconds with audio and video. Sometimes if oldest is settled, I keep it off rotating and on youngest just to not miss 10 seconds of unsettledness!

Glad for what we have, camera quality is more than sufficient, but look forward to not needing it (6m or so, too!). I snuck a US amazon price match to BRU Canada and got the initial camera and monitor, then additional camera for about $110 total.

I have been wondering this too, timely post!

We have the Motorola monitor and to buy an extra camera is $100 which seems ridiculous. But I do still love checking up on DD (2 years old) and definitely want to be able to when she moves to a big girl bed.

With that WOOT deal that was posted I'm thinking of just buying a second cheaper monitor but then I'll look like a crazy lady with two to watch :-)

Our summer infant monitor is 3 years old and I can't find additional cameras. I'm trying to decide how to best move forward with #2 coming in November. Though we don't check on C as much anymore, I still like the comfort of having it. I don't like the idea of two cameras and two monitors at all, but it would be our cheapest option right now.

We don't have a video monitor but I used to nanny for twins with separate rooms & they had a one monitor two camera set up. I think it was Summer brand.
We will be getting something similar when we have LO #2. I hate not having a video monitor

I had 2 cameras and 1 monitor - I kept the feed on my younger child but liked to switch over and check on older one here and there.

I stopped using it with DS when he was 4 because it broke and I had to buy a new one and didn't want to invest in 2 cameras.

DD is 3.5 and I rarely look at the monitor but I still have it on - she is old enough to get up on her own and find me if she needs me.

I don't have two yet, but I will in December. We currently have a Motorola camera/monitor. I plan on getting a second camera, which will interface with our current monitor. I believe you can have it cycle through the two cameras.

Not sure about your third question yet! Xander's almost 18 months and we don't use the video monitor as much as we used to, but I still like having it to be able to check on him, especially when he's sick, so I'm not ready to stop using it yet.

I have several questions that I'd love to hear opinions on:

1) If you have two or more kids, do you have two video monitors?

2) If you have two monitors, are they separate monitors/cameras or a combined set (two cameras, one monitor)?

3) When did you stop using a video monitor?
