This is the one we have, and we love it. Maybe it's more than you wanted, but we find it really useful to be able to see him either on the provided monitor or on our smartphones (if one of us is out).

You just need to download the app. DH set it up and it's quite secure, but I remember him saying it wasn't super straight-forward. It doesn't interfere with our phones, or wireless printer, though. Also, we have a separate non-administrator account for our parents (who live far away) to be able to see him in his crib, too. It makes them feel closer to LO.

ETA: You can always buy additional cameras for other LOs' rooms.

We have the Motorola mbp36 and love it. It seems to have amazing range and we've never had any issues, although the battery life of the parent unit is not good. I think it's discontinued but the mbp36s is the new version.

We just started using the Motorola MBP18. Our previous motorola (MBP33) has worked for 2.5 years but we have a new baby on the way and I wanted to just get new monitors instead of adding an expensive extra camera for the old one [with my luck one of the parent unit parts would fail or something leaving me with 2 cameras and no monitor].

We stuck with Motorola because our first one has been GREAT (range, durability, etc). So far we like the MBP18 just as much as the other, despite the smaller screen. It was $99 at Target, which seems on the low end for most of the video monitors I've seen. No panning, etc. but we don't really need the extra features either. It hasn't interfered with anything.

We have had two (and we love having them). The first one was Levana (Stella I think). I liked that it had a huge screen and you could move the camera around but sadly it broke after only a year.

Then we got an Infant Optics (this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052QYLUM). It's much cheaper and you can tell, but I still like it. The screen is much smaller but we're used to it and I like that you can program it so it only comes on if LO makes a noise (I think I could have done this with the Levana too but I never realized). It definitely does interfere with our wireless though so we had to buy a new router so we could switch to a 5GHz network. We needed a new router anyway though. Once we moved to a different network, it has worked fine with no interference.

A video monitor is a must for me too- even though we live in a city condo and can hear her through the wall. However I don't recommend the one we have, Summer Infant Safe Sight. It goes "out of network" for no reason at all and is just really annoying.

I also wish the camera panned. It's fine in the crib but once she moves to a bed I won't be able to see her when she moves around. And we will be having the two kids sharing a room so not sure how we will set it up then.

We have a Motorola one similar to the one posted above. Once in awhile the screen will just not turn on but then eventually does, kind of strange but not horrible because it always comes back. We really like having a video monitor. My husband misplaced the camera when we moved and I was so happy when I found it after a couple of weeks. His room is close enough to our's that we could hear him so it wasn't a must at this stage but when he moves into a bed, I will definitely want to see what he's up to.

We have this one from Motorola and LOVE it! I still use it every night and DD will be 3 next week. Baby #2 is due in January and I'm planning on just buying a second camera. Highly recommend this one:

I have been really on the fence about whether I want to get a video monitor for DS (due in August). I think I am leaning more towards getting one - not so much for early on (he'll be in our room), but for when he's a little older. We have a 2 story house so I could see him being asleep upstairs and us being downstairs watching TV or whatever.

I have done quite a bit of looking and I am confused. Ideally I'd like to keep the price reasonable. I don't really care about some of the fancy features like the temperature sensor, the larger/higher-resolution parent unit picture, etc. (as long as I can see it, it's ok with me - I don't care if it's a smaller picture or not the highest resolution)

I AM willing to spend a little more for something that is reliable, and particularly will play nice with our other electronics/wireless stuff. I have heard a lot of horror stories about people shelling out for expensive monitors and then they don't work well, they have a ton of interference, etc. due to wireless printers, Chromecast, etc.

If you have a monitor you love, please sell me on it!
