We have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Infant-Optics-Digital-Monitor-Vision/dp/B0052QYLUM

It's not fancy but it does the job. It has night vision and the sound only comes on if there's a noise in the room (so we don't have to listen to LO's white noise through the monitor all night). It's also on NBD right now: http://www.nobetterdeal.com/shop/en/nbd/infant-optics-24ghz-digital-video-baby-monitor-24-display-rechargeable-portable-monitor-ir-night-vision-b0052qylum

I have dropped this thing countless times and even busted the antenna cover off, but it still works great.

@Aimed: Ah, I understand. I don't travel with mine, and I imagine that would be a pain. I'm not particularly tech-savvy either, and the software install was tricky, as well as linking it onto the wireless/our phones when off the network. I watched a youtube video ;)

By the way, completely off topic: I notice you're a relatively new poster (welcome!) and wanted to let you know that if you click "Reply" on the top (ETA: and by "left" I meant "right", because I totally know my right from my left...) of a poster's comment it will send a notification email to them so they'll know to come back to the thread and see your reply (provided they have not opted-out of that particular service)!

FutureMrsMcK: I have read such great things about the foscam, my only isue is that I will be travelling with it and internet might be a bit patchy so i am worried that it won't work consistently. I am also worried that installation will involve words like "interface' and 'input' - not the most tech savvy!!
Bao: Good tip, I wondered about ebay but I am always nervous of electronic things breaking down with no come back. Great that you have had a good experience though - food for thought!

I got my Motorola (smaller screen) on Ebay brand new for around $130. You may be able to get it cheaper. Mine is the newest model and has been perfect so far.

I love my Foscam. It does come with bells and whistles. I can talk to DS through it (although I don't because he freaked out the one time DH did it), it can pan and zoom, it has night-vision and sound, you can take pictures and video, and, when combined with the Foscam Pro app (which I think was $5), we can view and control it on our phones, even when not on the property (DH likes to pop in during his lunch break).

This is the one I got:

http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8910W-Network-Camera-Two-Way/dp/B006ZP8UOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376327794&sr=8-1&keywords=foscam

But they have a cheaper model.

http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8918W-Wireless-Network-Viewing/dp/B0046710G6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376327794&sr=8-2&keywords=foscam

I know this has all been done before and I apologize in advance but I need a baby video monitor recommendation. I have looked at other threads on this but can't find an answer.

So I am looking for a video monitor that doesn't cost a kajillion dollars, I really just want it to do the basics, be able to hear my baby and see that he is not swinging off the rafters. Color, zooming, panning and all the rest aren't important.

I have been reading reviews on amazon and online and I have yet to find one that most people are happy with that is reasonably priced. Reasonable to me on this is under $120.
If anyone loves thiers, I would love to hear about it!!
